You can’t change the size after game creation, although on new runs you can set it to whatever you want.
Unless you have a specific need for a 100% world, like an epic nomadic journey or to increase the chance of finding a very specific starting tile, there’s no need for a larger world. I trade and caravan a lot but I rarely go beyond 70-100 tiles from my colony tile.
My understanding is that more coverage (a larger world) is bad for performance. I’ve done 100% runs and not seen a big difference, but I’m not sure.
That's not necessarily a normally recommended choice. IIRC, there have been some changes to help make large world generation yield a more stable, manageable, game. BUT, I don't ever do that and usually stick with the default setting. As a result, I've never had any risk of performance issues. One does not want to discover one has made a mistake in generating a huge world after devoting a lot of hours to that playthrough...
YMMV, though. Enjoy! :)
That's great and I'm happy for you! I just didn't want the possible issue to go unaddressed so some new player visiting the thread didn't run off and start every game at 100% Generation and then wonder why they're suddenly not as cool as you. :)
