Shooting and Melee Training
Hello,

Besides mods, are there ways to train this skills? only thing i could think of would be hunting, for the shooting skill.
If not is there a good mod for training these skills?

You can technically beat up prisoners or get your hunter stoned and try to hunt a rabbit but that's a bit too gamey. You can also hope for psytrainers but that can be pricey.

Training melee and shooting is difficult but there are some ways to make better fighters overall without requiring a high attack skill.

1. First and foremost is better weapons overall. There's a noticeable difference between a normal quality gun vs an excellent one. By late game your crafter should be churning out masterworks.

2. Same goes for better armor and shields for your melee guys.

3. Third is bionics. Bionic legs are good for everyone and a group that can outmaneuver the enemy is one that can win. Royalty has a lot of neat implants like healing enhancers and the like, you might want those too.

4. With Ideology, you can also assign a melee and shooting specialist at the cost of some disabled priorities. Leaders can also give a nice Command Boost to inspire the troops too.

Hope this helps!

Perfect! i did not think there was something that would not be to gamey, but i did not know about the implants. I know there was a mod that had a training room, but i was never able to get it to work back on 1.1.

Give the worst pistol you have to a shooter you want to train and order him to hunt animals which do not go manhunt. He will miss shots most of the time, which causes him to get XP as well.

For melee you can beat up prisoners, and in turn also level up medicine skill for treating their wound with no meds.

There's also this mod but it hasn't been updated to 1.3:

Give a pawn a good shield belt and stand behind cover, and have anotherpawn use a crappy weapon on him. Wont get damaged, and every shot generates experience no matter whether you hit or not.

(its been said to be patched out ^^) In addition to hunting 24/7 in vanilla Rimworld many versions ago I used to force pawns to shoot at strong walls and have another pawn behind the wall repairing it. No clue if that still works or not. I stopped doing it once I found some training mods.

Recently I've been using this one, its simple. These 2 recreation items are simple and so far have worked well with 200+ other mods.

I used to do that as well but they patched it so it didn't work anymore.

No surprised. :) I'l go strike that down in my post.

I train shooting hunting everything i can, now it is easier having most of the animals no chance of retaliation, and i practice melee fighting against each other, against prisioners or against slaves depending on your style.

Really no need for a mod i think, at least these both ways make sense and are integral to the game.

It'll go up on its own. Don't use slow firing weapons for range. For melee, being a meatshield is enough so being tough and nimble is more important than their skill at hitting things.
