Not really unless I'm doing some themed game or using a story teller that locks technology to say for example medival weapons only
Then yeah I will try to get weapon production down so I can make better weapons
This is really not the case. "Dodge chance" isn't at all relevant, the longsword and mace both perform better than the spear, and the DLC weapons just blow them all out of the water. That's more or less what I was talking about, you fairly often get quests that reward things like high quality monoswords or zeushammers. One game the very first quest I got rewarded me with a legendary uranium warhammer.
Weapons I loot from the dead early game or buy from traders if i have the silver, though some do get researched as more advanced turrets get researched.
Good luck, have fun.
