Do you guys try to get weapon researched as fast as possible?

No. I've always found weapon crafting to be rather pointless in the game, at least until quite later on. You get plenty of decent weapons delivered to you by raiders, especially if you go to war with the empire, and quest rewards drop plenty of super high quality ones for you for just building a monument or whatever.

Yes, spears are the best melee weapon in game due high penetration and dodge chance plus need few research on it.

I go straight for the basic turrets , then assault rifles . Then i do all the other stuff.

While I agree with you almost entirely, there is one exception I find worth noting. If you get the psycast Word of Inspiration early on, it becomes really easy to start making legendary assault rifles by late year 1. WoI has made me rethink my tech tree because of how consistently you can get creativity inspirations on crafters with it.
Energy sources and carpets. All you need to make your civilization chill as hell. ;p

Power first. Always power. Weapons are pretty far down the list actually.

This is really not the case. "Dodge chance" isn't at all relevant, the longsword and mace both perform better than the spear, and the DLC weapons just blow them all out of the water. That's more or less what I was talking about, you fairly often get quests that reward things like high quality monoswords or zeushammers. One game the very first quest I got rewarded me with a legendary uranium warhammer.

kinda... I do the basics first (constant power sources, stone blocks) then go for flak, smokepops, and gun turrets... then maybe the next tier for combat shotguns and the like. Before focusing on survival oriented stuff (including mortars)

Not me, i concentrate on power generation, turrets, defenses & medical sciences so that I can put my colonists back together again so they don't walk around missing body parts. :clonecc:

Weapons I loot from the dead early game or buy from traders if i have the silver, though some do get researched as more advanced turrets get researched.
