PD: I´m noob, explain it like if I were re tar ded pls :D
I *do* tend to raise animals that also provide leather/wool, so that makes a difference. If the leather was just from hunting, I don't think I'd have nearly as much as I do.
This is why I play extreme desert.
You have to remember that up until the last 2-3 updates, the vast majority of resources were not renewable. The game was balanced around constantly buying steel and plasteel from traders because you had a very small amount on the map and no way to generate more other than smelting down raider drops and taking apart mechs. Earning large amounts of money to trade with has for a very long time been the backbone of colony success.
I have all my colonists set to hauling 1. When you first do it it takes a while to sort things out and not much else gets done. After a while it calms down. Now my colony is nice and junk free. Works like a charm.
That sounds like a much better game! Wish they wouldnt have changed that...
Answer to all of your troubles... Greatest mod of them all I would say.
