Your faction's technology level is neolithic, but the research project is industrial

I already have everything researched from both the neolithic AND medieval projects, I'm already going into Electricity now, but it still says my faction's technology level is neolithic! What's up with that? How do I change it?

You can’t. There’s a mod that increases your tech level as you finish research, but in vanilla, your tech level doesn’t change.

It’s an intentional additional difficulty for Tribal starts. And to a lesser extent Crashlander starts, since Crashlanders have Industrial tech, and have the same penalty when researching Spacer tech.

This is the mod, but if this is your first playthrough, then I encourage you to keep playing Vanilla.
