RimWorld

RimWorld

I have this little problem
This little problem is that i cant really have fun, i probably spent half of my play time just being on the mod list and trying to make a decent mod pack to play with. Every time i do it it ends up with over 130 mods. And in game it is really hard to micro manage everything. I haven't even reached end game in any play through due to leaving not even half way through the game. Now if you say 'Just remove the mods' or 'Go play vanilla'. I don't have the courage to play vanilla Rimworld as it just seems really weird without QoL mods and other game impacting mods. For me to actually go play vanilla someone has to be telling me every 30 mins 'play vanilla' or i lose motivation and the game doesn't feel interesting. Now if you say 'Then only use a few mods' Well using a few mods is also almost impossible to pull off. I have over 90 QoL mods and i cant get my self to pick less than 80 mods without adding more to it because it feel 'incomplete'. If i do only use a few mods then again, it feels unnatural as i am unable to preform certain tasks in game. Idk maybe this game just isn't for me as i cant even play it without leaving for some random sh

Hmmm, looks like your mind is set in stone and you can't play Rimworld another way... I would advise to play something else for a while and when the desire to settle on the Rim is there again, then come back to the game.

(I have only 50 mods, most QoL and I hardly ever micro manage anything, I am curious about your mod list )

And I can probably drop utility columns and long distance (which is a just in case mod) that I don't use, ah and load in progress which is very situational because I tend to avoid building pods and launchers. (don't ask why cause I don't know)

I will enable Share the Load and Pick up and Haul next colony for sure.

Very simple
| CaptainIceland | 4. juni 2020 kl. 5:36
Damn i wanna use that list but ik that it will feel weird. And i want to add stuff to it, and most likely reach over 100 mods

I checked your list a bit, very combat/prisonner oriented while I am more a builder/looter type of player.

I considered some of the mods you are using at some point then discarded them.

You might want to check Save our Ship 2.0 and check your mod list again to adjust what you think you will really need with that mod (and to reduce processor charge because I think Save our Ship 2.0 will be really heavy, performance wise). It might change totally your gaming experience.

I have yet to try it myself, cause my comp is really old and I might have to trash some mods to play with Save our Ship 2.0

I am far from understanding all the subtilities of Android Tiers as well, after 100+ hours with the mod enabled. it adds a ton of new research. (and I guess it compensates for your dinosauria mule mod, M.U.F.F.s units can carry 175 kg each while adding 2 more factions and bring more difficulties to combat, because androids are TOUGH)

Try to only add mods that add a function and NOT items or new features, for that pure QOL modlist, that will reduce your need to micro things heavily and not overburden you. CE can be great but it adds even more stuff : )
| CaptainIceland | 4. juni 2020 kl. 6:17
The thing is i dont know if i can make a mod list that has mostly pure Qol, 100% it will end up me having so many more mods who add items and features.
starbabylon 4. juni 2020 kl. 6:57
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1321849735

I can only ponder at this mod, why add it at all? Well unless you play with no trees... No wonder you are micro managing stuff so much, if all your mods add something like that...
All the vanilla expanded furniture and stuff... I am a builder and yet I don't want to build WC for my pawns to spend their recreation there... Keep one or two maybe.

Slaves/Prisonners labor, you don't really need, mood mods to avoid debuffs... There is no need.

disclaimer: this is my opinion and individually, all these mods are certainly great/useful/fun, but as a bundle... No wonder the Op feels overwhelmed.

Even now i still have 131 mods...without Save out ship nor rimefeller.
Xeno42 4. juni 2020 kl. 7:43
often times i will have a few mods that define the playthrough. for instance when i played rim of madness other then a few misc. mods i did add anything else. same for when i played rimworld of magic. instead of trying to make a massive pack try to find a few mods that you want to fully explore. if you have to many you wont be able to use everything that every mod has to offer
| CaptainIceland | 4. juni 2020 kl. 7:55
I guess yeah, it depends what play through you want, and get the mods that work for the play through. And not to get a massive pack which contains many play throughs.
VinnyTheSavage 4. juni 2020 kl. 8:26
i only have 94 atm but tend to use more then 100 usually but really just depends on what kind of playthrough like people say. i remember playing vanilla the first couple playthroughs and while it drew me in to play more i have to have mods now or the game would just feel stale
brian_va 4. juni 2020 kl. 8:37
Take a break, like everyone else you likely have dozensnof unplayed games.
Jigain 4. juni 2020 kl. 9:06
Yeah, I take frequent breaks from Rimworld. I'll binge it for a week or two, then not touch it for a month. Rinse and repeat.

The bottom line is, computer entertainment is supposed to be just that: entertainment. If you're not entertained, why are you even playing? Go do something you actually enjoy, then when you start feeling the draw back to Rimworld (like that last glazed donut that's really your girlfriend's, but then again she won't be home for another three hours... I mean, you could probably find one that looks just like it in the store. After a quick snack.), then come back.
