Usually after a certain level of casualties they kinda just decide to charge you like a normal raid group assuming they're not retreating by then.

Building pillboxes is a bit costly on the start since you have to use steel or stones since wood is too weak, but the hats surely pay off.
So when there is a siege I am like oh... that's cute.
