Unpause game. Draft all the pawns, undraft the pawn you want to haul, be sure to do this while game is running. If you run mods, well then another story but give the game a few seconds to run thru it's logic, then reattempt the haul job.
I went around randomly either checking and unchecking steel on some 1x1 stockpiles, or removing and recreating others, removed the stack limits on all of them, and at least one of those things cleared up the confusion my colonists were feeling.
My only storage problems were Steel, Jade, and Plasteel. The things that I made the 1x stack limit zones for.
If you're not using mods, check to see if your stockpile allows tainted/looted items. Can't remember what the exact term is, but I think there's a tick right at the top of the list of things you can allow/forbid for that.
I don't mean to necro, but THIS is precisely the issue I just had and I had to just say 'thank you' for this.
I was trying to store Chemshine in a storage space, which was previously just an armory space, and didn't have "Allow Fresh" and "Allow Rotten" checked.
I was getting frustrated and came upon this thread. So thanks.
- item not allowed in filter
- stockpiles have the same priority and both allow item
- filter has its health slider not on 0-100%
- filter has fresh/rotten unchecked
- storage zone is not accessible by pawns (zone restrictions/forbidden door etc.)
- storage is full/close to full with the last spots being currently reserved because someone is hauling
Can't think of anything else right now, but these are the things that have happened to me in the past. If you checked 100% of these, a screenshot with storage filters would help.
I appreciate the help. Yea these things are always part of my check list and I checked many forums so I think I might have run into a bug maybe. I don't know. You know what's weird though? To get them to start moving hay into my one zone I actually checked the fresh/rotten filter and turning it back on made them use the hay stockpile :\. The other ones aren't working though and I did make sure that all of these things are not creating issues. I don't get it.
I long ago stopped taking screenies because then someone wants to claim it's mods even when I'm playing vanilla... As much As I want to carefully take screenshots it's pretty rare and usually ends with playing 20+ hours before it happens again, and since I don't take auto saves every 3 hours in game, it's just too much work to roll back and figure out when it happens and there's legit just no triggers for it as far as I ever found.
Basically it feels like a stockpile just gets "corrupted" and stops taking some items and it's just faster and easier to slash and burn.
Sometimes even with all perms set correct (and no other rooms set to allow) my hunters suddenly will begin leaving their hunted animals out in the sun. I often notice it belatedly and I actually had it happen to me again just today. I took the time to take all pertinant screenies years ago, nobody either believed it happens or demanded I do all the bug tracking work after hollering at me to "prove it!" so I just figured a quick fix and keep an eye out for running out of meat when I've been hunting, or similar stuff happening.
Since it tends to only hit one stockpile at a time, I just delete the whole stockpile, create a new one on top, then move on. Once I hit the mid-early game it's a non-issue since I probably have at least two freezers which allow non-rotten corpses or whatever my pawns suddenly refuse to haul due to some logic. In fact that's why I tend to have a freezer with a butchery room set back under different perms.
Ironically, in most other roguelike/lites, I can just make a quick copy of my save file, zip it and upload it and someone else can find it in the debug logs. Here, you get rabid stans.
