Does this ever go on sale?
A quick glance at steamdb.info says "no"

I wonder if 2020 is the year of the rimworld sale?

I'm super thrifty when it comes to games, i rarely pay full price for games. Very rarely. I also dont often believe most games ive played to be worth $40.00+ after having played them to completion. (at least my personal completion standards)

Having paid 29.99 (I believe) for it in EA, begrudgingly at that, its 100% one of my favorite games now, and I consider it well worth its full current asking price.

People will absolutely disagree, but its an outstanding sim game and has an outstanding modding community. REALLY great stuff in there.

Read Tynan's post pinned, he addresses this question specifically.

Yes it does go on sale, just not on Steam.
I believe the most it's gone on sale for is -7.5%

Are you trying to cheap shame me? Are you SALE SHAMING ME?

Dang. That's harsh.

War. War never changes. Or does it? The war has changed. Did it? The answer is no. Unless it is yes. No, of course it is! It is war. Yes. No. Yes?

With well over 500 hours in the game and my tendency to put in several in one sitting without realizing it, its well worth the full price.

A simple meaningful discount? Who knows...

I do want to address Tynan's pinned post. He takes a quote from July 10, 2016 as if that's the one that got misinterpreted by the community.

The thing is, he Tweeted this on Jun 27, 2018
RimWorld won't be on sale for a long time! I have a general no-sale policy. https://twitter.com/TynanSylvester/status/1012197795736850432

"I have a general no sale policy" is what people clung onto. Of course it'd be weird to think price would remain indefinitely, but a long time could mean like 10+ years when you include that no-sale line in there. I also find it strange that he then puts it in a bundle on August 28, 2018 not long after that tweet was made, so it contradicts what he said from the get-go.

I wouldn't be surprised if it goes on sale this year.. No clue why he is just now "correcting" it. The community (on all social mediums including Ludeon) was pretty vocal about how it won't ever go on sale for a good while now so there's still be many "misinformed" spreading that it won't ever go on sale. He would've easily conveyed that it is not the case long ago if he truly didn't want that kind of information going around.

pretty sure as stated before tynan made a thread adressing this question. Probably as its been asked a lot. Ive had the game since it first came out on steam when it was a bit of a cheaper price. so i got lucky. But ever since after it went to 30 dollars its stayed 30 dollars and never went on sale.

So im pretty positive it will never go on sale if history repeats its self. I can see why though. Its a game with nearly infinite replayablity and most people wind up getting more than their moneys worth out of the game in hours played. Theyre a small dev team and since most people have the game already they probably wouldnt earn a whole lot if they put it on sale.

If you have 30 dollars to spend though and really like colony builders its a definite must have and worth every penny.

a Bundle is not a sale. Also no sale.
