"Prepare Carefully" - The must have mod for Beginners and everybody
Hi

Everytime i read this question the mostly answer is: Play vanilla.

But i think there are some Mods, which help you a lot to come in the game.

So my Tip: Use the "Prepare Carefully Mod"

You can save Chars and Team and you can create or rework colonists.

I spend many timne to find a good Team - and when you have one, than you start and you don´t find steel on the map or very few or rich soil only in near of the borders - or you want to play the same team on different Worlds or start a challange for your own - Perhaps a Family or 3 cannibals.

So this is a mod which you have to use. Okay - you can cheat a powerfull Team, but when you do this you destroy your own game - where is the fun?!

Than a mod for a better vision of rich soil is practically - but for 1.0 the mod is broken.

Here the Link for the "Prepare Carefully Mod"

Perhaps you know a Mod which make some points easier without change the game

Can't play without it. I prefer my starting three to be decent and a solid foundation to build up with. More importantly just saves ALOT of time rerolling again and again to get a decent one. I've had one too many colonies die off in under a year thanks to awful pawn generation I've tried to make work. Just doesn't when imporant jobs are barred entirely because REASONS in a pawn's head.

Plus the mod makes unique starts alot easier to setup. Scenario settings are iffy at best.

Actually game have genius design, just look at yourself as one of colonist, get unfair raid -10, not get colonist with skills you want -10, rageout mindbreaks included.

Not everyone like losing, not everyone like struggle and "unfair" conditions, not everyone happy about favorite colonist getting shot in head, infection, flue and plague at same time just because virtual GM given him black mark.
This is "unfair" but this exactly how game is designed.

Removing randomness from starting characters is ok, as long as you intentionally want to miss part, where half of your pawns unable to figh and second half got plague and then raid comes.

Or probably when only one of colonists can cook and mad hare bite his head off and you stuck with raw food only and everyone got mad.

That's the point of Rimworld, struggle, starting with buffed colonists feels like cheating and in my opinion it ruins the essence of rimworld, for example starting with a colonist that can do everything good enought, isn't like starting with 3 colonists that put togheter can do something.

prepare carefully has definetly stopped me getting bored and kept me playing. It's great for stories and RP and doing weird stuff.

this makes no sense to me , you can put stats down as well as up . You not forced to create better colonists . I like it for changing there looks and giving funny traits. you can make it more challenging or easier.

I use it for 2 Points

The First is - when i have created a good start team - i save it for a new try on another map. (And change the look).
or to save funny persons or recreate some persons i met ingame.

it is far too easy to create a completely over powered team by mini-maxing. i dont reccomend.

Your first point is the only reason I still have this mod installed. It is nice to save some of the more interesting pawns to try again later.

I get why the mod exists. I tried it a little bit but I'm too used to the vanilla pawn randomization feature.
