Are there any mods that allow you to change the traits of a pawn once in game?
The title says it all. I did find a mod that lets you sort reroll a colonist with a mind control device, but not choose any thing specific.

Dunno about mind control but a grenade might jumbe them up in some unforseen ways..

I don't know of any mods that make it easy, and I looked through all the like top 1000 mods last night. I might have missed a few though, I was tired and the workshop isn't great for that sort of thing. The polarisbloc core mod has specific trait serums, but it's a convoluted process that's difficult to pull off, you need to wipe their traits using a mind wipe serum, then apply specific serums for each trait you want them to have IIRC, getting those serums is very luck based I believe. It's too much of a pain, but it might be "balanced" if you look at it that way. Other parts of that mod aren't very balanced at all.

If I need to change the traits of an existing pawn for RP reasons I edit the save. It's fairly easy to open in like notepad++ and find a pawn with the trait you want, copy it, find the pawn with the trait you want to replace and paste over that existing trait. Takes a few seconds, what slows the process down the most is exiting and reopening the game.

I use a mod that allows crafting of up to Glitterworld tech (medicine, new medical beds, new Gauss weapons, healer injectors) at steep costs. One research I have unlocked but not fiddled with, is some kind of mind altering machine. I assume it would let me diddle with the pawns traits, such as taking off negative or adding positives. But I haven't messed with it yet, still trying to get everyone equipped in Marine armor/helmets with Gauss weaponry.

There is the Polarisbloc mod-set as well... which adds a bunch of stuff. One of the things it adds is craftable trait releasers which 'absorb' traits from pawns and lets you in turn 'release' a trait onto another pawn of your choosing.

Can't you add and remove traits through the dev command? I'm pretty sure I saw something like that in the dev interface.

No, but there's a mod called brainwashing chair. Inb4 cool necro.

Altered Carbon allows you to 'rewrite' a pawn's mind at a 'risk' of their mental stability.

If you're looking for a game friendly technology way that's probably the best method mechanically so far.

There are some other cheaty mods that allow you to 'brainwash' or 'alter pawns' in other ways which are easier than altered carbon.

For example;

On the other hand ff you want a more interactive balanced experience and not just 'brainwipe and reset' this might be interesting as this is the most 'storytelling' friendly way;

Which is similar to this;

Me "editing a save." Wow this is ancient. I barely remember life without Character Editor.

I was like ''why Astasia recommending editing a save file when character editor is probably way easier'' but seeing the time stamp of the original post it all makes sense now lol :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
