Is there a way to turn off skill loss
To lose a full 2 levels in a year is a bit much. It takes a long time to get to high level then to loss the level so fast because you cant do a certain job forever.

You can have a crafter endlessly craft wooden plate armor and wood stuff for sale. An artist can endlessly craft a wooden grand sculpture for sale. A cook can turn humans into kibble for sale all the time late game :P . Constructor can endlessly make human leather chairs heh I mean...stone fall traps and stone chess tables.

You can tell an animal person to tame every animal on the wildlife on the map hehe. Then sell them all.

I think reduce resistence on a prisoner still lets a social person chat with them all the time without actually recruiting them.

You really have to have someone dedicated with a passion to something in order to get over that last 20k or so in level 19. I honestly don't know how someone does in Savage+ on default vanilla settings. I know its possible but just imagining all the micro you have to know about and take advantage of to gain and maintain 20 of whats necessary throughout the colony seems daunting. Unmodded I had a crafter once get within 6k xp of level 20 then he got sick and he lost almost all his progress into 19 before he recovered.

Why do you need a 20 though? Its pretty easy getting great quality at 14+ .

For getting masterwork procs regularly and and legendary as much as possible. Durability in vanilla is no joke.

Skill level also affects crafting speed.

Didnt they change how legendaries work in 1.0?

In that they don't get made very often at all? Yeah. But you still get them. You just gotta craft a lot of items to get the proc. You end up with a lot of normal to excellent gear but then you can use that for quests. Last night I traded 11 shield belts I would never use because they were normal-good for 18 advanced components and 54 glitterworld meds.

its really makes the game impossible especially late game. You you need strong gear and structures because you did have any thing to craft and spent time farming you get steam rolled because of skill loss.
