Can someone explain converting prisoners to me?
They just sit in the cell chewing up resources and I can't interact with them do you give it a certain amount of time and then just banish them?

I have tried looking at the wiki but it just doesn't explain it to me someone who is brand new to the game? I really want to keep this prisoner because they've got some good skills and I need new colonists to help out.

When you select a prisoner there's a "Prisoner" tab. There you can select what you want to do with him. "Recruit" makes all your wardens try to break his resistance (takes some time depending on the amount) until they will try to recruit. "Reduce Resistance" is basically training for the social skill, as they will talk to him, but won't recruit him. The others should be self-explanatory.

Ah yup, there it is. Gotta click on that tab.

I'll have to try and capture another - my current one died because it went besurk and I had to put them down.

This game is complicated enough I am having fun learning it all but got to admit the external information through wiki's and such all seem to be writen like you were playing from the beginning at least to me it does.

on the prisoner tab if it says the difficulty is 99% dont even bother trying to recruit them.
u could release them or preform operations on them with ur doctor to level up doctoring skill

other thing, Your colony is ether spacer or tribe culture. giving a bonus to the same type while making it alot harder for the other type to recrute. Somthing something about not being the same language or so.

To make recruting easier, try making the prison a little palace. Fancy bed, good food, art, light, nice temprature and have some entertainment in it.

Not sure if this is a thing in 1.0 but in previous iterations you needed to have an un-assigned bed so there was a "place" in the colony for a convert to jump into.

So a prison with creature comforts, a high recruiting skill, and a comfy bed for them to move straight into.

Converting? Oh, you go to the health tab, open the operations sub-tab, add a bill and select what resource you want to turn them into.

There's a nifty little mod on the workshop, don't recall its name at the moment, that allows setting of doors to be prisoner accessible. That allows you to make a prison with amenities such as dining and rec. Happier prisoners lose resistance much faster. Testing last night, my admin would drop resistance 1.4 points per 'chat', and once insalling the prison, it increased to 3.7. Definitely an improvement, and nice later on when you'd get those super finicky pirates with 40+ resistance.
