Trash everywhere
How do people deal with the rapid accumulation of trash all over the place as you develop? It's just covering everything and I have a person set to only cleaning and another set to clean when there's no hauling!

Animals are usually the biggest filth makers so restricting them helps.

Pawns tho? No idea. There once was a mod that added mats pawns could wipe their feet with. Dunno if it still exists.

Are all the dirty areas marked as the home area? One cleaner should be all you need. Avoid dirt areas (like dirt paths or courtyards, or unfloored hallways), because when transitioning from dirt to floor, it leaves a dirty print around the first few tiles.

It's not dirt and it's not animal filth, it's literally "trash" when you right click to clean it up. They are all in the home area, yes, main thoroughfares mostly. It's not dirt! It's little white bits that are called trash.

yeah that is also seen as dirt
just have someone clean from time to time
or if you have enough food: get a pawn just for cleaning and transport

I have a pawn set to haul and clean as their priority 1 tasks and they can't keep pace with the other 9 peoples mess it seems.

I suspect your other colonists are moving around the map too much. Put some lit, roofed wooden paths between major hubs, and try and put meal storage, dining room and sleeping areas close together to cut down on morning bustle.

Well, I've noticed recently that "prepared" medicine can actually create a small stack of trash when it's used. I don't remember "trash" as a floor mess being a thing prior to B19.

It might be true of packaged survival meals too.

Animals still create an "animal filth" tile, like boomalopes and muffalo.

The dirt floors in the bedrooms guarantee that the dirt is continuously being spread around. Should get a lot better once you get floors down in all of them.

The animals are helping with that spread by having free roam around the base.

As above. Animals have a filth rate basicly anything but a dog or cat inside is filth on legs.

Keep all your animals out of your main living, dining quarters. They are the most dirty things. You do make junk too when making things so you will need a feeler dedicated cleaners. Have them restricted to clean the base with a little area for them to leave outdoors to plant/ remove plants to prevent the stuck indoors debuff.

Having a dedicated janitor also helps.

Usually the least capable/productive person in my colony is the assigned janitor.
Alternatively, there is cleaning robots and roombas if you're willing to use mods.

How do you keep animals outside?

I had a fun character once, i asked her to clean the main house, after that she began cleaning the whole map, buldings, garden, then outside. ^^
Well she had to stop for the night but that was quiet fun to watch.
