"Question: Will the game have achievements?.
There are many games that even use the achievements to unlock game modes and other features (for example, in Reus).
Answer: Very unlikely.
Here's the design rationale: The experience of RimWorld isn't really supposed to be about fighting and winning against the game. It's not a competition or skill-test, primarily. It's about story experience. Achievements get in the way of that by focusing people's attention on some arbitrary task. I'd rather people set their own goals and experience the story as it emerges.
That and they're not essential and I'm far overloaded as is."

Yep pretty much this
Rimworld isn't asking much of you. If you need achievements to hold your hand and give a game meaning, then you're better of playing a game that gives you a little pat on the back every time you do anything.
Some people don't understand that achievements doesn't have to be something complicated that somehow will deviate the game from its main purpose or ruin the story experience. Just like Altaraiser above me said, it can be something simple like finishing the game. Hell even minecraft have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ achievement for opening the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ inventory.
However, I do think it is important to remember that we shouldn't just value a game based by whether it has achievements or not. The point of a game is just to be enjoyed. So just enjoy the game even though it doesnt have achievements man ;)
... I'm glad Rimworld does NOT have any.
Honestly , i've allways seen Steam achievements more as loot box's. Just another way for Steam to collect a few more pennies from players and for those scam games to generate income. I think the idea is great, but its implenetation on Steam is horrendous.
I hope you get what you want one day (maybe someone will make a mod that give players something like that), but i hope that i never see any acheivements in Rimworld.
Good luck have fun.
Escaping the planet isn't the only way to complete the game (if you use the Save Our Ship mod, even that doesn't have the be "the end"). For some people the end game is a happy, thriving faction. For some people it's "conquering the planet". For many people there is no real end - it's about the story rather than any particular destination.
And different people have different playstyles that make many possible achievements counter to how they want to play - some want to kill everyone they meet, some want to save and recruit everyone, some are isolationists and some just want to eat people.
Those who want achievements can always create their own - there's plenty of stats and information provided. I've not touched RimWorlds mod system, but I would wager you can create an achievements system through modding.
