Is there any way to increase the number of priority rankings?
Default in similar games is usually 1-9 and a unprioritized setting. The 1-4 and unprioritized makes it a little difficult to prioritize super efficiently as you have a lot of jobs on 2 or 3 but really you'd want some 2s/3s done before others. But you can't set them to 1 because thats reserved for emergency (firefighting, doctor, patient, etc). And you can't set 3s to 4s if you want to use 4 for things to do when effectively idle.

t be nice to get a setting for this, but in the meantime does anyone know a way to alter settings in the files or a mod that does this?

Yes, there's a mod that brings the number up to 10.

it's also sorted from left to right. So if you have multiple items on priority 3, it picks the first one on priority 3 from the left.. and works it way to the right before starting on priority 4 etc

Yeah for the most part you really don't need more than 4 once you really understand how it works. But yeah there is a mod. It changes more than just the numbers though. It kind of changes the whole work tab. Unless there is another mod? But the one I know of is this!

Fluffy's Work Tab Mod. Really awesome stuff. Gives you 1 to 9 I think. Plus makes work tab a tiny bit more complicated but gives you more control over the actions of your colonists. Very close to how Dwarf Fortress does it. More catagories. If there is a mod that only gives you 1-9 but keeps everything else the same I don't know?

That's good to know. I just got the game :)

I'm beginning to think I may not even need 4. For the most part, I control everything by leaving most things at 3, and using a 2 when I really want a pawn to focus on something. I'm fairly new to the game (only because it's THIS game) but I've noticed that ranking firefighting, doctoring, etc. as a 1 (or even, sometimes, a 2) causes the task to be done when the pawn would more wisely be doing something else. I use 4 to mean "Don't do it on your own, but do it if I tell you to."

I rarely use anything higher than five for “Will never do x but I don’t want to have to change work priorities for that one time I want you to do x,” but I use Fluffy’s Work Tab (which allows you to break larger jobs into their constituent tasks and I find VERY helpful), and it allows priorities up to nine.

Why would you even comment that without telling what the mod is?
That's so useless and unhelpful...

Why would you necro a 4-year-old thread to complain about something said by someone who doesn't even use these forums anymore?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
