Also, there are mods. Bb wire, razor wire, concertina, trenches, etc...

Not sure if this is still in effect but in beta 18 if you lay down wooden floor tiles and then burn it you get a movement penalty. You could increase this penalty further by placing stuff on top of it, like stools. I used to do a kill zone where I had wooden flooring, wooden stools and double dead fall traps to maximize kill potential.

furniture and objects does not slow down pawns on their own, it is climbing up and down from those objects is what slow them down. Space out the sandbags with one empty tiles between them in a narrow corridor can significantly slow raiders down, even more if you have trees in those empty space or the corridor built on a swamp or shallow water.

To slow down raider, I try to build walls so that the raiders enter through a swamp or shallow water. The raiders slow *away* down while slogging through mud, and they have no cover.

Using any above-ground obstacles such a furniture, rocks, sandbags, etc does give them cover.

The worst solution (but still functional) is a zigzagging wall labyrinth. This gives them complete cover, but does delay their arrival by a good bit, especially if you force them into a narrow single file passage.

Clean swamp, mud, wet sand and natural rivers are the best in slowing enemies while giving them no cover. You can also make stone pavements to speed up your settlers instead.

There is a mod that allows to change soil in-game: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1540857850
I also use a "Barbed wire" mod that makes a better alternative to stones and chairs with their 10% cover effectiveness. Makes sense: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1677669693

Taming useless herbivores en masse and stationing them at your base entry's another good stalling mechanism. Free food, raiders chunk up around the animals, and if you're using boomalopes and/or do some strategic placement of roofs and pillars, you can get in some pre-engagement damage with no risk to your colonists.

Trees slow them down.
