Overhead Mountain
So, I have this particularily annoying mountain smack-dab in the middle of my future base. It's no bigger than 10x10, and I have already cleared most of it, save for about 6 walls in the middle of the mountain. On my last quicksave, my colonists cleared all of the rock and then some "Collapsed rocks" fell and appeared where the overhead mountain was. I had my colonists mine them, hoping to wear down the rocks and get rid of the mountain once and for all. That was when one of my colonists got crushed to death. So I reloaded the save.

How many times do I have to mine the "Collapsed rocks" until I get rid of the overhead mountain? They keep appearing everytime I destroy both pieces.

Overhead mountains, in the vanilla game, cannot be removed.

remove the complete mountain and the overhead mountain is gone xd.

Yes, that was my idea. Mine the collapsed rocks until the entire mountain comes down like Jenga blocks.

That doesn't work. You will get endless collapses, there's nothing you can do about overhead mountains in the base game. You can build a room under it without any issue, just build your own walls to support the ceiling then you can mine away the rubble and clean it up, the problem with that though is you can get bug infestations spawning in there. Or you can use the mod linked above to remove the overhead mountain blocks.

In the vanilla game it is possible.

set up wood pillars when you mine deeper and deeper into the mountain once have mined everything down and only have wood pillars remaining shoot down the pillars with your guns r.i.p mountain.

That's not what happens though, you just get a collapse which creates new pillars and the overhead mountain remains. You could do that a million times and it wont change.

Some small hills have thin rock roofs which you can collapse to get rid of, but it's easier to just use the remove roof tool on them.

Collaspe happen at random or when there's nothing that can hold the mountain together?

It's not random. Blocks can support ceilings up to 6 tiles out. Constructed ceilings and thin rock roofs will crumble and disappear causing some damage if they lack support, overhead mountains will drop pillars of minable rubble under them if they lack support, but the overhead mountain will always remain.

Mountians are a plus.. they're immune essentially to artillery fire and drop pods.

This particular mountain is so small that it's only useful as a pillbox, and even then, it's in an inconvenient place. Guess I'll just use dev mode to remove it.

EDIT: Question, how do I remove overhead mountain with dev mode?

You can get rid of it by going into dev mode. I did that with my last game.

HOW do you get rid of it, exactly?
