how to change colonist names?

I edited a colonist's name before starting the game but I messed it up somehow and the colonist now has a blank where the name should be, anybody know how to change colonist names after you've already created the colony? like is there a file I can go in and edit?

go to the character tab on the colonist in game
there is a kind of stylized pushpin to the right of the name
if you hover over it it says change colonist name
you can use that to change the colonists name
you can do this on new recruits too

My pod recruit has an objectionable name. There is no way to change the name. Do I just flush the game along with the name?

Well, it's not scandalous, it's just Homer Simpson rude, JR's father dropped in by pod and his name is "Smelly". It's not like body parts or anything, but I put a little effort into setting up the game and I get swill. In fact if his name had been 'Swill' that might have been a little better, because it's sort of desparado ish.

u can change the displayer "nickname" as ashardalon said

It's missing. The pushpin and name place is missing. I think he fell as a 'visitor', How convenient.

You could capture him and recruit him then.

I mean it's a lot of effort to change someones name but sometimes needs must when the devil drives.

I know I'm years late but you can change someone's full name if you have dev mode on
