How to set gearing setup
Hi,
Can someone tell me how I can determine the gearing setup for each gear? Plus, of course, top speed.

To be honest, I stopped playing since the update, because this element completely overwhelmed me, I don't know what and how, before it was calculated automatically (I mean top speed) and now? I don't know how to deal with it.

I see you also posted this on Discord...

Anyway - the easiest thing to do would be to find a real life car that's similar to whatever it is you're building, and copy the gearing from that. https://www.automobile-catalog.com/ has an extensive collection of cars and they list both the actual gear ratios as well as the speed per gear which you can copy, quite neatly, into Automation.

For example, say I wanted to make a mid-90s commuter budget car with an automatic transmission. The Kia Sephia sounds like a good candidate who's gear ratios I can copy.

I can either take the actual ratios like this:
Gear ratios (overall):
I: 2.8
II: 1.54
III: 1
IV: 0.7
Final drive ratio std: 3.74

...and plug them into the advanced designer.

Or I can look at the top speed (per gear):
I: 61 / 38
II: 111 / 69
III: 171 / 106
IV: 244 / 152

And plug the values into the simple designer as follows:
Top Speed: 152 mph / 244 kph
First Gear: 38 mph / 61 kph
Adjust the gear spacing such that 2nd gear = 69 mph / 111 kph

After doing this a few times, you'll have a decent idea how to gear your car for whatever demographic it is you're trying to appeal to. Good luck!
