Automation - The Car Company Tycoon Game

Automation - The Car Company Tycoon Game

Any good for people who know nothing about cars?
Firstly, congrats on bringing this game to Steam. I along with others learned about this having signed up for updates from the devs' main site. I've followed the game for over a year now - just because it's a refreshingly different game and deserves big success.

Long ago I tried the demo, but was a bit overwhelmed. It was a long time ago and so it might have changed, but at the time I didn't know what to do. Do you need to know about cars and engines and stuff or is there a getting-started tutorial now? If not, I can stick to the very simplistic Car Simulator on Steam (fun but not a serious game). But I would LOVE to get into this because I love building, designing and creating stuff, and the additional tycoon element will be like absolute heaven!

This is just a genuine enquiry, not a request. If it's not for n00bs I totally understand (because there's nothing else out there like this for motor experts, whereas for n00bs there is the Car Simulator game). I just LOVE the idea of this game, and regardless of the answer, I hope it has phenomenal success!

We aim to make it understandable by anyone who is interested enough in cars to take the time to learn it, there are a lot of tutorial scenarios and about 1.5hrs worth of tutorial videos, which are a good aid. And if you have further questions you can always ask on our forums

I'd say it's good for people who know nothing about cars as long as they're keen to learn :)

Thank you! That's really helpful. I'm definitely willing to learn. I'm just in that position of: "well, they have four wheels, a petrol cap, um, seats, lights....." - so designing a gearbox or suchlike is a bit of a jump - LOL!

I'll definitely be buying (I can't right now because I've blown this month's game budget). Glad to see it on Steam and good luck!

I'm 42 and never had a drivers licence, Top Gear is about all the car knowledge I have. I've already owned this game for a very long time before this steam release and still enjoy playing it.

All the infoscreens you get while doing specific things to your car and/or engine explains a lot really well and simple enough for me to get it. I learned a lot about cars and know more about engines then most people with cars do :p

Love the game and it's eye for detail, can't wait for the tycoon part. :)
My knowledge of cars, prior to this, was "put in motion lotion, car go broooooomm". Whilst it did take a bit of time (but by no means a long time) to get my head around it, the tutorial are very good. I would recommend printing off the manual, as it is very helpful where one needs to remedy faults,

Thanks guys - that's really helpful. I'm in the exact same position of knowing zip, but wanting to play (and maybe even learn something - who knows?). I'm 47 and have been driving for a full 30 years now (eek!) yet my idea of knowledge is how to find the dealer via the GPS and ask "how much to fix?" :))

I'm interested in cars but before I started playing this game I knew very little about how engines actually work. There is a bit of a learning curve here but with some time and patience you'll learn a lot. The game has very good tutorial videos, tooltips and actual tutorial scenarios to give you an idea of how to design various engines and cars.

From there you can simply start playing around and learn as you play.

Really. I do not own a car myself and never really had a great deal of interest in cars. That's all before this game arrived. Personally, I'm very into the tycoon part, so for me that's going to be the biggest thing in the game. However, I have had tons of fun designing and building cars and engines.

Before this game, I hardly knew anything about engines, besides what the average person would know (engine makes power, more power is better). Thanks to this game I started understanding more of the ins and outs of engines, but also of different gearboxes, suspension settings and downforce etc. This game has really helped out a lot understanding details about car and engine engineering.

There is a learning curve of course, but the latest update has helped in that you are able to see the effects your changes are having on the fly. And I second what Daffy said, the forums are great for asking questions :D

I've actually learned a lot the past couple days from playing the game. I love reading all the extra info about all the parts and how they are used.
