Campaign Tutorial
Before anyone says it, yes, I'm sure there are videos out there explaining it. But given the sheer amount of systems, a guided tutorial in game for the campaign, that guides you through making a car that is market viable would be much appreciated. A guide that explains what decisions are made and why they're made would go a long way to making the campaign feel less like a guessing game. I'm sure there's a few videos out there that do an okay job of it, but given how long the game's been out I'd think an in game tutorial, even if its just tool tips regarding the actual STRATEGIES the tutorial uses rather than just the mechanical workings is long due.

Since campaign isn't complete yet, such a tutorial would have to be re-written multiple times before the game is finished.

right, but when I receive a readout that my car is 140% desirable, there should be a list readout explaining what is doing just that. Because whenever I go to manufacture it, suddenly my desirability is tanked to 23% or thereabouts, and I'm left wondering wth just changed between the designer and the factory set up. If there was a tutorial, then unless theres a major overhaul of entire systems, there'd just need to be small changes to the wording.

I'll make a new video tutorial for campaign for the Al Rilma update, that only takes a day as compared to multiple months of work making and then remaking proper tutorials. :) But yes, they very much are needed!

Is the desirability drop you're seeing mainly for your first car, or also as significant for those after?

I appreciate the video tutorial update! As far as the desirability drop, it seems to happen for the first car most of them time. Every now and then I'll get one that similar to the reported score in the designer, but I haven't been able to make more than 1 car without running into it.

My first thought was that it had to do with the sliders regarding the quality over quantity, learning vs work, automation vs manual sections. But I havent been touching those more than 10 in either direction, so unless the desirability score is extremely responsive to minor changes like that, I'm not convinced thats the issue.

If it is just the first car you release in a new campaign, then from my understanding, it might be that there are simply no proper other cars (of AI companies) on the market yet to compare your newly designed car to. It is basically living in the ideal "no-competition"-bubble still.

But when your car finally gets out of engineering and into production, there totally might be cars on the market from the AI. And then your car totally competes against them for the share of the cake. Hence the massive desirability drop.

I don't know if it is still like that, because I have not played the campaign for quite some time, but if it is still like that, then that can make the first car shine in the wrong light during design, and then after its release you get the rough awakening.

Later in the campaign there might still be the occasional "spikes" in desirability when the AI releases new cars, but the desiarbility values are not as far off as they are for the first car because later there are always currently available cars as the "base line" to compare it to.

That is indeed the most likely cause of it, there just being no proper competition yet when you make your first car. That is mostly a first-car-only issue though - once you are in the 1950s the markets are a bit more settled. The only other time this can and will happen is when countries open up their borders and companies from that other country is starting to compete with you with their lineup.

I see, alrighty then. I appreciate the insight.
