But I prefer Automation's gameplay, as the car design functions are much further in depth than GearCity. I mean, if the two games were boardgames, we're talking Candlyland vs. Chess.
Because of this complexity in Automation, I'm quite certain that Automation will have much more gameplay available to it when the business side is released. Not saying you won't like GearCity in the meantime though, it's just that after playing Automation the car design stuff in GearCity started to get really boring to me after a couple hours.
I think we'll have a pretty solidly awesome Tycoon game eventually, so you've got that to look forward to.
In terms of hours of gameplay, welllll.. it depends on how good you are at making your own fun, some people have put thousands of hours into Automation in it's current state, between the scenarios/challenges, building random cars for fun, participating in community challenges, building fantasy car company lineups etc.
In that respect I guess its' currently a bit like Minecraft Creative mode. It's only as fun and as replayable as you make it. If tinking with cars is your jam, I think you'll enjoy it.
Thing is Motor City is superior to Gear City in allot of ways, and was made back in 1995.
Here is a Intro Video I made way back of Motor City.

GC's developer has acknowledged that, of course, games like Motor City were an inspiration. However, in what way would you consider it superior?
Let us know how you like it!
