car body flashing all over screen

Just redownloaded the game after a few years of not playing, started designing a car - all perfectly fine - then i get to the body design stage and the entire body starts freaking out. wheels are flashing, fixtures are flashing black, the windows are glitching to about 2 metres behind the car and back, body is flashing, wheel arches are appearing in the doors. whats going on??

That might not be an Automation issue; when stuff like that happens it's usually a sign that your GPU is failing. You're not having problems in any other games or applications are you?

Regardless, make sure you verify your Automation installation; in your Steam library, right-click on Automation and go to Properties. Go to Installed Files and press the "Verify integrity of game files" button and let that process run to completion. Once that's done, run Automation, but instead of launching the game, go into the Troubleshooting Tool. Press "Clear Cache" and then launch Automation from there.

It might not fix your issue, but it will go a long way to reducing the number of things that might be causing this.

Ok so very good news!! Nothing is failing! (Was really hoping not for a 3 year old mac) however i did find the cause of the problem. For some reason, every graphics setting is perfectly fine, apart from shadows, which cause the problem on anything but low. Could just be mac but idk.

Oh, you're on a Mac? Shadows are specifically a known issue with the Mac build currently. Keep it on low and you'll be fine.
