Actually Driving the vehicles?
I dont know if this was ever a plan for this game but i thought it would be great. Was it ever an idea to actually be able to drive the cars like a car company version of kerbal space program? or is that not on the radar?

There was never a serious plan to make this happen, but it has been discussed ad nauseum. If the developers can make a tool to import cars into a sim such as rFactor or Assetto Corsa, then they likely will.
Even if engines alone could be an available "option" to cars on another platform, that would be huge. To have a Mustang with a supercharger or a Camaro with a 10,000 redline 5.7 liter, people would fall in love with their favorite cars all over again. Ultimately driving ones complete creation would be the pinnacle, adaptability between games could be mutually beneficial to each products manufacturer.

Engines can be exported to Assetto Corsa.

Same process should work for Race series and for rfactor 1

Honestly, even if it was a simple contoll mechanic applied to the top down track screen, I'd be happy.

You can stare at numbers all day but there is no real way to know if a car is good enough, untill you drive it.

We aren't asking for fully fleshed out 3d modelled modes, just something simple.

Even "just something simple." is so very not simple though ;)

I know that, but you get my point right? You've made it so that the driver can tell when to turn with different car handling, surely you can make something out of that?

Personally I think being able to compete cars would be better but...

that's why they said that they may do something to export the cars created to others games.

If they made it exportable to BeamNG I would actually squawk a little bit. It would make sense for it to be an easily moddable game, with thermodynamics, advanced crash safety physics and aerodynamics, that is also easily moddable.

By which I mean BeamNG. Please make it BeamNG.

BeamNG is actually a very hard game to import car bodies into, because of the complex damage physics in it.

BeamNG mods are easy to install but difficult as all hell to make. It'd be pretty much impossible to automate the process of putting a car from Automation into it

Balls. Oh well.

However, if we got modders from both communities together, ones that are experts with Beam.ng mod development and modeling, and the equals on this side of the spectrum, I think it could happen.

It's definitely possible to manually put a car from automation into BeamNG but making a car for BeamNG is a process with a lot of fine tuning and tweaking. Hell, one of the BeamNG guys said it took him something like 3 months to make one of the first cars in the game

Alot of guys over on those forums use skeletons of older things and stuff too now, which speed up making the vehicles. In concept of course, if over time someone with experience on both sides made bases of all the vanilla cars in standard form, unmodified, I think it would be a start. Basically like a mirror, we wouldn't be converting the vehicle models over every time, just the hard code that the vehicle will behave by.
