Advanced automatic is basically any modern (or modern-ish) computer-controlled torque converter automatic transmission, while Auto Manual covers any automated manual transmission, such as BMW's SMG, Lamborghini's ISR and Ferrari's F1, among others.
Automation advanced automatics are like 2000s automatic, not 2020s sports automatics
modern "advanced automatics" are near identical in performance to a DCT, they just don't feel as sporty or engaging while driving, wish automation reflected this in game (late 2010s making performance close to DCT but losing sportiness if you pick that option).
I haven't played campaign in ages, but advanced autos can be fairly sporty in BeamNG.
