[Rant] Don't know if I've said this before, but the V12 needs a sound overhaul imo.
Now, I just wanna get this out of the way first: I'm not *demanding* an overhaul - I get that sound design takes not only time, but serious effort and budget too. I don't mean to come off as pushy, but this is just an honest, unfiltered opinion as to what I think is wrong with it.
I don't know what it is about it, but I almost never make V12 engines because I just hate the sound. It sounds so... raspy, unrefined, kinda like an overpowered lawnmower. The sound it makes when it's going down in revs sounds like it has a turbo even if it's N/A. Personally, I'd prefer the sound of something like a Murciélago or something, but the current sound is just... ech.
Over automotive history, V12s have been used in prestigious, fast (at some points, *the* fastest) cars, be it ultra-luxury boats or nimble supercars. The current sound of the V12 is, in my honest opinion, a severe short selling of the historical importance of the V12, and just how its songlike tones are supposed to sound. I'd honestly love if someday, the engine sound could be updated to give it the proper tribute and ode it deserves.
But that's really just my opinion on it - if you like how it sounds, hey, good for you. I just personally hate it.

Yeah I agree, the V12 is the only engine just doesn't sound right unlike the other engines. I don't like the F4 either but it's not as bad as the V12. The other engine sounds are either good or great though!

Every time it's brought up, the devs ask "how should it be different" and nobody really provides an answer on it. It happens with relative frequency (pun intended) on the Discord.

what kind of answer are they expecting? i think it's fair to say that most of the playerbase nothing about the technical aspects of the sound synth system in the game, so it's very difficult to give helpful answers.
most players would probably ask for a completely new set of sounds, but i believe that's out of the table.
good feedback will only be possible when the devs make clear what they're willing to change.

completely agree with luine btw.

The v12 sound is absolutely terrible lmao, i think it should sound way more sporty, like the aventador v12 or a ferrari v12, as a lot of you may know, the engine sound changes depending on the intake, you can make the Flat plane V8 sound like a f1 car by using the normal intake and like a race car with the race intake. they should make it but with the v12, so it will sound more like an aventador with normal intake and like a race v12 witht he race intake. at least that's my take on it

Okay, here's my take:
Standard intake should sound like the BMW V12s like the 850CSi's
Performance intake should be either Lamborghini or Ferrari-esque
Race intake should be Formula 1/McLaren F1GTR/Diablo GTR kind of sound

the *engine* sound is pretty accurate and matches to the dyno sounds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxDpG8TUoHQ

the whine from here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv4ZJ8ZuQkY people associate to v12 must come out of something else, probably within the exhaust or transmission elements.

Depends on the engine, it may fit some v12s, but it sounds pretty bad, you can literally make a ls7 sound like a Ferrari just by changing the exhaust headers and the full exhaust and etc, there are lots of reasons to why some v12s sounds different from others, but most v12 in luxury cars or super cars are very different from what we have, and even the ones that sound more crispy are different from the game v12, also I disagree, the first video doesn't sound nothing like the game one lmao

the sound quality in the first video is awful, it's distorted to hell and it sounds more like a v6 anyways.
the second video doesn't sound like the in-game v12 at all, it's missing the excessive rattling and raspiness.

also, most of the engine sounds come out of the exhaust, when we say "engine sound" we're talking about the exhaust tone, and no, there are no such things as "transmission elements" that are loud enough to alter the sound profile so much.

the only noticeable sound a transmission can make is the straight cut gears, but still it's just a badass whine lol
the lack of a response from killrob kinda answers my question on how much the devs are willing to work on the sounds, shame.

They want to improve sounds, but once again, nobody actually has said anything concrete on how to change it.

Sound design is hard bruh.

i was waiting for some sort of response to give my 2 cents, it would be a real bummer to put effort into a post just to get "we're not gonna work on that" as an answer. but i guess i'll do it anyways.

bruh, we have said already what we want it to sound like, a lambo v12/ferrari v12 and with race intake a more crispy sound like a XJR-12
imo, with some rework the v6 sounds would fit very well for v12s. the f50 for example sounds quite like a meaner v6.

idk man, the v6 sound is obviously inspired by the Vr38DETT, making the v12 sound more like the f50 will make things more confusing
