Sports Sedan Challenge/SHOWCASE
Who's down? Lets set it up.

EDIT: Screw a challenge....how about a SHOWCASE.

Feel free to use this thread to post your Sport Sedan Creations.

Any year, let's try to keep it as realistic as possible...but at the same time...do YOU.

I'd be interested.
yeah sure

I'd say for those interested lets throw ideas into the pot and see what we can come up with.

Should this be a design & driving challenge or just design?

Drivetrain layout?

What do ya'll think?

I think it should be design and driving, and drivetrain should be up to you, to a reasonable limit.

Design and driving sounds great. Since driving will be involved, how does a 300hp limit sound?

300hp for 80s-90s is fine, but anything post 2000s has more power than that, so it would be far too unrealistic.

unless we limit the time frame that is.

Alright, what do you think a good limit should be?

Im thinking kinda far ahead on this one but on the driving front I think it would be cool if we did a base model challenge and then a challenge of the same car but a really sports oriented one like the M and V models from BMW and Cadillac.

Or we can go flat out sports models from the gate?

I think a power limit is too restrictive. We should have separate classes based on weight to power ratios = https://www.autoblog.com/2014/07/02/best-car-power-to-weight-ratios-feature/

This way, powerful but heavy cars can compete with less powerful light cars in close competition.

I think basing the limit on power to weight ratios is a great idea, but I also like the idea of doing a "base model" or a "comfort/ luxury" version and a more sports oriented version

i don't think we'll have enough participants to split things up. what's the point in separating classes if we have 1-3 people in it?

id be down, how about power to weight of 7lb/hp so about a 3600lb with 500hp? also where we uploading this?

Fair point. But as B1GGEST mentioned, if there's not enough participants to have separate classes, a "target" power-to-weight can be used instead. So if it is 7 lb/hp (not saying it should be), someone can compete with a 500-horsepower 3,600 lb car (BMW M3) as well as a 4,300 lb car with 620 horsepower (Porsche Panamera Turbo S) or a tuned lightweight car with 400-horsepower. This way, it's more about the overall engineering and tuning, regardless of the power level chosen. Plus the cars should (in theory) be more closely matched which will make for more fun/interesting competitions.

I think that's a good idea but we should agree to a power to weight ratio and some years to make the cars (2008-2012 for example)

There are great points that have been brought up so far. If there are only so many participants initially, I dont see "classes" being important right now even though that is a great idea, just need more participants. I think for now we should focus on a HP/weight limit being there are so few "entries" as of now, no need to overcomplicate it at this stage, although it could very well go that way.

Im newish to this game so I also ask the questions;

1. Where can we upload pictures/video so that vehicles can be judged for design?

2. Who's gonna do driving test?
