Automation - The Car Company Tycoon Game

(Suggestion) Rear Engine, Front Wheel Drive
I just thought this was a weird and wacky idea, and it has been done in the past irl, though the cars names escape me, I just thought that if it's something thats possible, it would be a nice silly feature to have in the game. a front wheel drive rear engine ability for cars capable of having rear engines. It's stupid I know, but it would be fun to play with,

I recall Killrob saying that they'll only have commonly used drivetrain layouts. We used to have Mid-Traverse AWD, but it got canned.

I was told years ago there would never be interiors. . . here we are now. You just have to believe hard enough.
Midnight Shadows , i guess you'v tryed too set the power deliver to only the front wheels when building a rear engine all-wheel drive?

thegreensteem : oh yes its kinda cursed, because the suspension will make the car squat so hard , it looks like some animal is suffering from broken legs when accelerating.

The only "usefull" i'v build is a 60:40 , you might get your rear around easyer because the engine is in the back or mid-back, but you will get some effect like when a puppy runs at full speed on a slippery floor

I actually haven't, it was brought up in a discussion in a discord chat, and I thought it was an amazing idea especially since it has been done once or twice in history. The potential for weird production cars is there.
As it stands today the game still lacks popular and important features, like proper turbos and diesels. I really don't think the devs have the time or the interest in adding such a useless and irrelevant feature.

I mean, again, it's not like I'm saying they have to drop everything and add this. Just something fun for the future if they ever get around to it.

GearCity. It has all sorts of weird and wonderful engine types and whatnot in it, including the rear engine, front wheel drive layout. Sadly it's not like Automation and the car designer is a joke in comparison and you cannot try out your vehicles in the game or by exporting them to another. It's still cool to be able to have electric and steam engines though, which is something Automation may never have. Especially steam.

Don't ask for steam.

The Dymaxion car had that configuration, along with rear-wheel steering. Neither configuration has many advantages (if any) over the alternatives. Rover filed some patents for such a car in the '90s, but they never actually built any based on the concept.

ETA: Found another example (this one, according to legend, inspired the Jeep): https://web.archive.org/web/20160128185937/https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/the-car-that-inspired-the-jeep-was-completely-bonkers-1685249820

Shame when you're trying to make a pre 1980s car. . .
