I focused on laptime rather than actual speed and built a baby trackday car. I also saved time by combining two cars I already had: I took the S-Cargo light delivery van(because it's super light and takes Lynx parts) and gave it the engine, gearbox, suspension, tyres and brakes from a Lynx GTi - my Golf II GTi rival.

The only hard part was bringing it in under $10K. The Lynx is a premium hot hatch and I didn't spare any expense. It's got variable hydraulic power steering, and that was the hardest part to get under 10K without ruining the spec for the rest of the car - that's an expensive part but totally worth it.

Edit: I love how the steelies hide the huge vented brakes :3
