Automation - The Car Company Tycoon Game

Making a small engine that won't seize up in BeamNG.
Since the last update, whenever I make a car with a 1-liter or smaller engine and export it to BeamNG, the engine will seize up as soon as you apply throttle. This used to not happen, and I like to make cheesy little cars with wheezy little engines, but I've been trying to stay at or above the 2-liter mark because this problem crops up if I try to make something smaller.

Has anyone successfully made a sub-2-liter engine that runs without problems in BeamNG since the last update? If you have, would you please instruct me how to make one, too*? I'd appreciate it if you would.

Thanks in advance.

* If there's a tutorial, a link to that would be just fine.

how to fix engine lockup issues

step 1) go into your beamng user data (default is my documents/beamng.drive/mods)
step 2) open your car's zip file
step 3) locate and open "camso_engine.jbeam"
step 4) find the line with "friction" and set the value to about 10 for i3s, could be higher for i4s
step 5) if step 4 didn't work, put in an even smaller value
Thanks! this also fixed my 900ci V12
Do the devs of either game have plans to fix this problem in future or are we on our own with this one?
Not sure yet, but probably.
What causes the issue? I make a ton of different 550 and 660cc Kei cars from all sorts of years and differing quality and I never ran into the issue, strange.

I had just started doing the same. At first it was working, then the new version dropped, and new cars aren't quite the same. I'm using the Public Test Branch. What version are you using?

I'm on the Public Test Branch as well. Strange, I wonder what causes it then. I always try to have little strain on the engine parts, as in trying to keep everything green, I dunno if that makes a difference.
My system won't let me overwrite the file, claiming that it's "read only" even though when I try to change the properties, it's already showing that it isn't protected. I'm going to have to wait until the devs fix this. Meanwhile I'm going to try to find the smallest engine that will work through trial and error. *shrugs*

ETA: About 1.7 liters seems to be the minimum for a small V-8. That's what? About 100 cubic inches plus change? That'll do.

Seems they are fixing this, but I have a lot of engines I build they just don't "Run" with no flashing warnings, they fail to start when I go to test them /: But if I do weird stuff like drop the max RPM to 3000 it runs fine, even though its the same exact engine, but I bump it to 3100 RPM and it fails to even start, not like it even gets to 3100RPM to blow a part.
The ones that were giving me fits would always seize up on the shift from 1st to 2nd.Until It's fixed, I'm finding the limits. I can wait until they correct the problem to build another Crosley-ish car with a Crosley-ish engine.
it happens with my super-1.0L cars, i think it's a problem with how the game simulates stalling
I hadn't noticed this issue until I made a 825cc I-3 engine. I've never seen this before but apparently it's now a thing. Basically anytime I hit the rev-limiter the engine just locks up. It's very odd. Playing the current stable version, not the public test. I don't remember the game doing this so it must be because of one of the recent updates to either Automation or Beam.
It's the most recent Automation update, and the public test build is exactly the same as the standard build.

Ah well, that sucks. I guess I'll just keep making generic 2L I4s and 3L V6s...
