Boxer engines and V6 identical performance?
I noticed that there is the exact same performance when I switch from a V6 to Boxer (Turbo)

Looks to me the calculations are actually the same. The boxer only has more weight, otherwise it is the same.

Just wanted to ask if this is intentional or if this is a mistake my part.

The only difference between the engines is the bank angle. That doesn't affect power output in and of itself.

Boxers are smoother, a teensy bit heavier, and a bit wider of course.

And offer a lower center of gravity.

IRL, of course. In game? wasn't sure if it was that accurate. Be nice if it is though. Unless I'm missing something the interface never actually tells you the centre of gravity at any point.

Even V8 flat- and crossplane have different performance, albeit small. So I expected the power to change slightly, especially as boxers are always considered to deliver more power (a misunderstanding?). But it stays exactly the same, so I guess camshaft have uses the same cylinder logic.

I also checked this today, and the boxer in Automation has excellent smoothness compared to the V, so there is a 6 cylinder inline in the format of an engine with 2 banks.

I also compared the engines in my best car, the V6 is 2 hundreds of a second slower than the boxer, although the cars is ca 15kg lighter (irrelevant), so the boxer behaves different and seems a tiny little better, in spite of the weight.

Also the boxer looks really cool in longitudinal configuration, and sounds awesome. So I take it even if I expected something different.

Well, a flatplane crank v8 has the firing pattern of 2 4 cylinder engines bolted together, so it is less smooth, and the induction and exhaust systems see a different pattern of pulses, so it does make a difference.

A v6 and a boxer 6 use the same firing pattern. So the only difference is in balance and packaging. The main real life advantage to a boxer is the amount of space above it for a nicely optimised inlet system, the smoothness, and the low centre of gravity.

In game, you can exploit the smoothness to get a longer stroke and more capacity. You can go to 4 litres without any bother.
