I like to note that there was a bug related to the engine selection though, where the engine would not load in properly until one exited out and got into the model again.
We have often discussed the various levels of a trim in regards to interior and entertainment choice and thought about it for years now. Our conclusion is to not go any deeper than we currently go as that would lead to a lot of micro-management for little to no gameplay benefit. I think what you are mainly after here is the immersion factor of choosing these specific addons, not the actual game mechanics for that. Indeed, it was a pretty terrible game mechanic in the original "Detroit" already :P absolutely meaningless to the game, but "kinda cool!". Automation is damn complex as is, and we don't see the need to add anything that would make it significantly worse for little gain.
The different interior package choices are five-fold already:
Interior Luxury & Materials
Entertainment System & Electronics
Safety Package
Implementation Quality of Interior & Entertainment
Implementation Quality & Focus on Safety
When you read the descriptions of the various packages you will see that we cover most things as is, and if not you can add or subtract a bit of quality in the section to get it to where you want. That doesn't solve the "immersion issue" which I think it boils down to for you, but all gameplay mechanics bases are covered pretty well by these mechanics. That is why we are happy with the current compromise of our system.
I hope that clarifies things.
Cheers
