Yes, of course. Boxers will be unlocked from 1940.

That is only dependent on the turbo unlock date, which by default is 1975, modified by your company tech. So if you have 5 tech in aspiration, turbo boxers unlock in 1970.

Cool, I definitely wanted to have a go at boxers since the game came out!

Same with 5 cylinders btw, so this is a most welcome update.

Turbocharging was popularised in the 1970s for cars, but the tech dates back to at least the 1960s for car engines, and back to the 1920s for other engines.

Turbocharging was well known and understood but not used in Grand Prix cars because they used supercharging. And there was a lull in the 1960s when safety had become too much of a problem.

100-200 horsepower were used to drive the supercharger but somehow that was offset by the added performance.

You are mistaken. The 2002 Turbo was about 10 years too late to be first in the mass market. That title belongs to the Chevrolet Corvair, which had a turbocharged version (Monza Spyder) from 1962 to 1968. This followed the lesser known and produced Oldsmobile F-85 Turbo Jetfire, which was introduced a few months earlier and was discontinued at the end of the 1963 model year.

Yes, this was an air cooled, pushrod, turbocharged flat 6. Over 10 years ahead of the Germans

It's amazing how the car ad mixes with ideas from ongoing the space race.

"Turbo rocket fluid" :D

PR catered to the many men who felt "I have watched so many rocket launches on TV - now I want my own turbo rocket in my car!"

Anyone else want a boxer twin option?

I want to make some dinky French cars :)
