Dual engines
Since this is not in the FAQ, I think I'm allowed to make this (obvious joke) post.

Automation needs (no it doesn't) the ability to put two engines in one car! Like the absolutely definitely factory stock Audi TT "bimoto": https://www.topgear.com/car-news/audi-tt-news-perm-destroyer-1000bhp-tt-2007

Plus, once we do get electrics here, dual-motor is probably going to be a must-have so why not do the work ahead of time!

(Obvious off-topic joke post, feel free to hate)

Quad turbos with their own internal turbos for true octa-turbo performance.

Pfffft, twin-turbo per cylinder is the future.

I love it! If we can make W engines fit, why not two parallel inlines per axle.

Quad, transversely-mounted flat fours.

Lower center of gravity and still sixteen cylinders' worth of power.

Yes! Like modern electrics which put the batteries in the floor, why not put a set of ICEs in the floor instead! Worked for cab-over/Toyota Previa.
