Greyed out "New Car Trim" button in Car Designer

Am I missing something? Is it disabled on default when playing in the sandbox?

It should not be grayed out by default, no!

Exit out of Automation and re-start the game, see if that fixes it.

Tried that already several times. At first I just thought it was meant to be like that since I haven't played Campaign yet.

Oh, OK I see what you're doing here.

That button only works when you have your menu in List Mode!

Okay I can make trims now, but why is it disabled when listing cars in anything other than list mode?

The UI works in a bit different way when you are in grid or tag modes; you can just click or hover over the car you want to make a new trim for and a new UI will pop over that will give you those controls.
