Please tell me this drama is about something more than a VICE article

Look, I've never even heard of Kirsche before this. I played the game on and off since it came out on Steam, because Im also Czech and wanted to support local devs, so I am quite surprised about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that unfolded and I am waiting for an IGS statement.

Even then I want to say, this whole thing better be about more than a hitpiece article on VICE written by a person of highly questionable interests and character.

VICE is a joke, its a nonserious site similar to Blesk! (a low integrity gossip magazine published in CZ), it is a thin line above both satire and bankrupcy and the less said about the person who wrote it, the better.

I like the game, so I want to hear from the devs as well. But I implore you, have a proper reason for this.

There won't be a proper reason for this, as such reason can't possibly exist. There's a "good" bad reason and "bad" bad reason. Good one: insufficient research, acted upon bad input from someone within or outside the company -- confirmed by retracting the decision, saying openly that "we are sorry", kissing and making up... However, there are some signs, that in the end the studio may turn out to be another woke-infested and politically biased entity, in which case: bon voyage! Say hello to the Titanic.

I wouldn't exactly call it a woke infested entity, as the game itself is full of stereotypes, cliches and jokes the "woke crowd" would actually have a problem with. There are no classical white/men bad or what not.
This seems like a bad PR/marketing decision pure and simple, but I don't want to cast judgement without hearing both sides of the story. Like I said, I dont know Kirsche, but I care about the principle.

This is far from end of the road, Helldivers 2 devs had a habit of shooting themselves in the foot bimonthly, but they took it on the chin, pulled through and the game is in a good state now.

I'm not calling it either. Like I said, there seem to be signs, however jury's still out. I'm still open to believing it was a honest mistake. We'll see.

As to Helldivers, they had ~infinite money from Sony. This doesn't seem to apply here ;)

Sadly, I think the devs will bury their head in the sand, and won't address it. The political brain rot people will move on to the next thing, but Kirsche's fans - who make up a very noticeable proportion of the player base - will still be gone.

The Devs have shot themselves in the foot.

Not only will they be gone from the game, they'll keep bringing this up periodically, and keep bringing this up in regards to future projects from this dev and publisher unless this is properly resolved. Remember, we had enough. We are now in pitchfork phase. Make games, stay out of politics, act within the law, don't do anything underhanded and we'll be fine. We had first row seats for decades now to see what happens when asylum patients are allowed to run the show and we are done with that.

I've been that way for a while. Since 2015 at least... Wouldn't put quiet like 'pitchforking', but I understand the sentiment 100%.

I was extremely liberal in my youth. Anti-establishment, pro individual freedom. Yet over the last 10 years or so being liberal has turned into bullying and emotional blackmail to impose your views on others while shilling pro-establishment policy that's a decrement to everyone.

While I agree on the merit, life is relatively short, and while I concur that lately "enemy" is making insane progress in self-destruct dept., there's still hard to ignore collateral damage :(
