I want to preface this by saying that Kero Blaster is one of my all-time favorite platforming titles. Through its sound design and graphical choices, it perfectly encapsulates that sense of nostalgia for "simpler" times. Thematically, there's a lot under the hood after first glance: the drudgery of work, the endless, every-day, and the fight against corporations and the inherent "work-producing machine." It's a short, but sweet game that I've played many times over.

However, this is first and foremost a mobile port, and, for whatever reason, Kero Blaster doesn't run optimally on Steam. It very well could be my laptop not wanting to cooperate, but I've experienced crashes and slow-down on what is effectively an NES-inspired game. I also feel the controls are better suited to touch-screens as you were able to essentially auto-fire on the fly, eliminating a lot of the frustration I've felt here, especially against bosses. I would like to go through Zangyou mode here, but I'm finding it all too frustrating. Funny, and I never thought I'd say this, but play the mobile port if you can. I feel it's a better optimized and better feeling experience.

I recommend this game wholeheartedly, but this is not the best way to play it.
