Well i just found one and waited so it danced and it's still not tameable.
I can even get a sceen capture to prove it.
That's odd. He should be tameable now. I can also send a screen capture to prove it.
Haha i didn't see it got updated again. My bad.
I'm sure many people would like to mod their own stuff and since you have mention you are often busy wouldn't it be the most logical thing to do. I don't mean as in to release ushc information like right now not today or tomorrow or even next year but more along the lines of eventually when you've gotten near perfected the process or just decided not to do it anymore. I don't mean to sound like i'm pushing for it even though reading this over it does sound like it. It's just with only a handful of people who understand how to do such things properly it would be annyoing/sad if such information was lost from a scholarly view point. Actually you should put the answer on your Q&A bit in the even other people ask.
There are no "tools" for modding this game, and there never have been.
People seem to be under the impression that I have some hidden SDK to this game or something, and I don't. Every single mod here has been done by hand, through research and hacking, trial and error, and rigorous testing. I have over 1,250 hours logged in XIII-2, and not one of those has been playing the game.
If someone else wants to mod this game, the "tools" to pack\unpack the game files are publicly available and have been in every single mod release I've made. They're right there. Everything else is done by hand, by myself, and with nothing else put into it other than hard work, time, and energy. Do I have one or two private things that make my life easier? Yeah, but they're not tools for modding, just some shortcuts I've made to make my life easier - so I don't spend hours doing monotonous tasks. There are no hidden GUI's with listed data entry or drop down boxes with monster names or checkboxes that make things playable - there are no tools, full stop. None. Nadda.
Are there people who might be taking my research to make tools? Maybe.
But that's something you'll have to wait on, as I have no say in when that's ready. And I won't make promises on whether it ever will be ready for that matter. In short, if you want to mod this game, roll up your sleeves and work for it like I have.. and if you show promise in that and prove you're dedicated and competent, sure I'll chip in and help you the best I can with what time I have to spare. But no before anyone asks, I don't have time to hold someones hand and teach them step by step how to do this, I'm busy, stressed, and have enough on my plate as it is.
I have put a lot into modding this game, and frankly a lot of people have underestimated the work involved. In fact, many seem outright ungrateful. So to clarify one last time, this isn't easy work, there are no tools, and it takes a crap-ton of time. I might add, this series really really doesn't like being modified.. bugs crop up a lot, and I do mean a LOT! The time and effort I put into this isn't to be taken lightly, it takes passion and dedication, and a dash of insanity.
whoa mate, i think you might have added malice to my words. I didn't mean any disrespect and i wasn't asking for such a blow up. It was a legitament question which you have met with hostlility. I understand you're reserching and going though and making things work and stuff happens and you have to start again but mate i didn't expect such hostility to my question.
I wasn't looking for some GUI enriched program that made things so easy a flipping dog could make something.
Look I enjoy doing this kind of thing so i'm still goign to roll up my sleeves and try see what kinds of things i can do and adjust and stuff. cause it sounded like you though i was some to-bit noob who wanted an easy magic program and that's not what i was asking.
I'll just end with i enjoy our work and I'm sorry you feel underestimated and underappreciated. Thanks for the quick reply even if it reads like it was typed in anger
Again though, I wasn't meaning to attack you personally, more a generalized answer for everyone who keeps asking. There are no real modding tools, none. The things you need to pack\unpack files are public, and those are even included in all of my mods. Anything else the majority of people want, doesn't actually exist.
All of that said, if you personally are dedicated to aiding in all of this, and meaningfully wish to contribute.. I'd be more than happy to aid you in any way I can. In fact, you're more than welcome to add me to Steam if you wish to discuss these things. I suppose it's the least I can do if I offended you in any way.
You didn't offend me man. Looking back on my message it really needs re-wording and actually i'm sorry that i seemed pushy that wasn't what i was trying to do. What i really ment to say was "I just want to help out and contribute" It just sort of turned into a mess when i typed it. sorry.
