Change your soundcard channels to 6 , not 4 or 8.

One of the greatest things about ff games is the sound track. My headset has the buzzing sound also, and its my only option for sound I don't have any regular speakers i can use. So unless this gets fixed I just wasted my money.

I have to use my regular logitech stereo speaker to get rid of the buzzing sound. the game does not like logitech audio driver for my gaming headset =(

Okay, Here is what I Found Out About The Problem (In regards to the Logitech G930). The headphone is probably trying to pull audio for the Left Surround Sound from the game, but since there is nothing there, you get a constant buzzing sound. In order to "Fix" this, You should Turn Off The Left Surround Channel, (And the right as well, so you don't feel off balance.) http://steamcommunity.com/id/ZilethRyderZXC4/screenshot/544142142578896346

I found that going from 24bit audio in Windows, to 16bit audio, fixed the buzzing issue.

I am using a Corsair headset and it is buzzing too.

I had same issue with headphones, just set compatibility with win7/vista, FF XIII doesn't seem to like surround
then the game won't start anymore

Windows 11 fix for me (tested to make sure but only by launching game as that is when buzzing started for me and haven't played the game further yet so unsure if it will come back later but it has stopped on launch at least so might be a permanent fix).

THE FIX:

Control panel -> sound -> speakers (or whatever device you're using, headphones etc) -> Properties -> Advanced tab -> under signal enhancements, disable "enable audio enhancements" (untick the box).
For anyone having this issue, easiest option is to set the game to run in Vista service pack 2 compatibility. Takes seconds and you don't need to tinker with your sound settings
