FF13-2 has a 2 party member system, with the 3rd being used by an 'mob' that only has one role to themselves and can be swapped out with each paradigm shift (set before hand of course with a limit of 3 slots for different mobs)
The Way you travel though it is different & for some improved as it it tends to open up more, and you can complete it faster then 40-60 hours :P including 100% the game.
Worth getting, and w/o spoiling any story the characters are a bit different in presentation.
114 hours (+22 mins) :P I had some serious trouble & fashionation with getting all the chocobo 'allies' :P and I had some issues with getting the massive hit(99,999 damage single hit) achievements, well that and filling out the filling out the datalog & beastuary X.x
Story can be beaten in around 50 or less.
In all it's kinda shorter than FF13, prolly due to less grind, but it has much more content to explore.
Edit: If it helps it took me exactly 40:00 when I finished FF13 (PS3) lol
Of course there's quite a bit of postgame stuff too. There are a lot of tough fights in the coliseum if you want to test your party, plus there are three big scenarios revolving around Snow, Sazh and Lightning. All of that stuff was DLC in the console releases, but it's included for free in the Steam version.
Yep, yep, SirNinja explained it extremely well. FF13-2 is just better filled out with content, that cover better areas of the game. It feels much more polished, you won't even really notice the shorter storyline.
