Probably elitism. They want to go back in the air because Gran Pulse probably still doesn't feel like home. Although after 500 years, I don't see how it wouldn't. At that point it's probably becacuse it's all they've been doing for the last 500 years and because Gran Pulse probably can't support all the people still on Cocoon.
And why new cocon? SO THEY COULD RELEASE FANG AND VANILL FROM CRYSTAL STASIS.
it was mentioned so many times i'm surprised you don't remember this.
Pulse is a dangerous place. Even a small seaside town like New Bodhum has a huge gate, fence system, several dozen assault rifles, and several volunteers working with the NORA squad patrolling the beachside cliffs. Even though it's apparent that Snow and company tried their hardest to make a place like their Cocoon hometown (the architecture and beachside housing are practically the same as old Bodhum), there are signs all over the place that their new home is in a less-than-forgiving place.
The safest place on Pulse is right underneath Cocoon, where the new government/military is able to build an elevator in 4 AF that goes to and from the formerly-floating continent. The outpost underneath Cocoon ends up being the safest place on Pulse to be, and it eventually turns into a colossal city (Academia).
There are other reasons why a new Cocoon is being built as well. For one, the old Cocoon was humanity's home for a very long time, and was a save haven from the many monsters and Cie'th residing on Pulse. Secondly, it was known for a long time (thanks to Hope's excavated Oracle Drive) that Cocoon's pillar would one day erode and cause catastrophic damage to the world below, especially Academia. The new Cocoon would serve as an ideal place to evacuate all those people.
Of course, it all goes to hell in the game's ending when both Pulse and the new Cocoon are engulfed in Chaos, but you asked, so there you are.
And yes, I know, I've played this game way too much.
You can have an opinion of that, but mine is that Lightning is a terribly boring character across all three games.
I still don't know how is that Lightning actually have fans. She sucks! (And not in a sexual way) it's the worst character i have seen in a FF game. And the damn 3 games (FF13,13-2 and LR) WANT YOU TO LOVE HER because "Lightning is cool"
she's strong, tough, smart badass and extremely skilled in fighting, something we don't see in females in games. she also has cool dream for me, protecting her sister no matter the cost, something i personally always support.
The same goes for Fang. Cool, sexy, wild and dangerous chick with spear. Cocky, flirty, sexy, what not to like? + her relationship with Vanille (sisterly or romantic, whatever ya call) i soo good. (YURI RULES)
they're different and that is enough for me to like them.
Both Fang and Lightning are strong and badass girls and we need them both in games (pros for Remember Me and such titles) an in other media too.
That's everything from me.
Serah is a fictional character. She... isn't real.
I'm not taking pleasure in anyone's death, I'm taking pleasure in how a plot turned out. If you weren't so damn in love with this character, you'd actually understand the difference.
That wasn't my question... Why move to a new Cocoon when they can live on Gran Pulse? Vanille and Fang have nothing to do with this question.
Great answer, :)
I didn't pay much attention to the dangerousness of Gran Pulse. It seemed to me they had totally "tamed" the planet at some point, but now that you point it out, it makes more sense.
Still, they don't "have to" make it float in the air. It seems like a waste of energy, but that bit must have more to do with symbolism and what it represents, rather than its usefulness.
Yep, this too. Many aspects of the story was very sketchy, no news there.
Totally agreed. I'd even add more, but no need. "Haters" gonna hate, no matter what, ;)
The level of hypocrisy here is astounding. How convenient. When it's something you like it's suddenly "haters gonna hate." Yes, haters are gonna hate. You're one of them.
I don't even know what you're arguing here. It seems like you completely misunderstood me. I completely understand why people like Lightning. I was calling out her haters yet you managed to take the opposite meaning from it.
Good thing we aren't married then, heh :)
Still, what don't I understand exactly?
The important bit of my response was:
"I'm not taking pleasure in anyone's death, I'm taking pleasure in how a plot turned out. If you weren't so damn in love with this character, you'd actually understand the difference."
Which means, I mainly care about the plot, the quality of it, because all this is fictional to me (and rightfully so). I don't necessarilly give a damn about any individual character, even though as pointed, I do have my preferences.
(e.g.: Lightning and Fang - my favorite characters - could die for all I care, if for some reason that made a much better plot, I'd be cool with it. If not, then I'd be pissed and disapointed, like you probably were with Serah)
"I have to save Lightning!" or "Lightning sacrificed everything to stop Cocoon from falling!" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!
Everything about her was just there to make her sister look cooler and that's a shame.
The ending was great though. Almost as sad as 13 but it's because the best girl died in 13.
One thing that bugs me about it is how chilled everyone was with just jumping 500 years into the future like it's no big deal. ♥♥♥♥ the old friends, Snow and Lightning. It's not like this entire game was about reuniting her.
And I'd like Lightning more if square wasn't constantly trying to convince me about how badass she must be. 13-2 gave her character more justice imho.
