Moblin farming
This is getting seriously annoying. I tried farming moblin for power crystals in archyltte steppe (stonestump wastelands). Did they nerf the PC version on chance to spawn?

Man i kept get 1000% spawn rate of Buccaboo. The Buccaboo spawn rate is ridiculous. And Mobln like 1% or something. Really who design this? It's so ~!@#$ stupid.

you can get certain Fragment Skills "Battle mania" that let you encounter more powerfull enemies more often and other one, i don't remember it's name now, where you can set how frequently enemies could spawn.

The RNG seed seems to be changed on PC. At least the RNG was so bullshit for me that it was quite suspicious. (210 Imperil spells to get it stuck once on an enemy that is listed as "susceptible to imperil" is beyond stupid. It also took me 20-25 tries on average to catch one tonberry with the +20% chance skill.)

I'm not strong enough to go after Tonberry yet. Talk about RNG.. that green choco took me like 4 hours to capture it.

I find more Moblins on the border between the Stonestump Wastelands and the Clearwater Marshes than anywhere else, but Gancanaghs hang out there too, so it's definitely not guaranteed. Battlemania helps, though. Mud Frogs in the Rainy Clearwater Marshes drop them too if you're not having luck with the Moblins.

Tonberries have been pretty annoying for me, though. Even getting 300% Feral Links with Monster Collector turned on, they just really don't like dropping their crystals. But I've also had first try events happen too, so it's whatever it feels like doing. They have been giving me a lot of Hermes Sandals though!

Do you mind screenshot the map on the location as well as the weather? I''m doing it on sunny day but i read that rainy is better. So i'm not kind of sure

I do rainy because of also being able to fight Mud Frogs, but here's a screenshot:

All up and down the edge here, you'll fight Gancanaghs and Moblins. Sometimes Buccaboos. Other things too, but there seems to be a goblin-type focus in this area.

Thanks alot bro. I'm gonna try that up!. After this my biggest problem would be the Tonberry. But i'l just leave that for now.

Tonberry isn't that hard, just takes time. A lot of time. A LOT of time. Don Tonberry could turn into a heal/protect cycle though when he really gets going.
Frankly, since this is PC, after a while I just said to hell with it, and switched to one-hit-kill farming with them. Since I killed like a 100 Dons to get 5 for my monster pack, I swear I saved at least 20 hours of mindless farming with that.

Dang still no luck with moblin. They seriously nerfed the moblin spawn rate. Multi-layer of RNG. Spawn rate then item drop rate. Just seriously. Was wondering if i can just buy it from Chocolina. This is so ridiculous. Not to mention Tonberry yet. *sigh*.

1-hit killing you mean cheat?

I recommend searching more to the southwest of the ridge. In Scarlet's 2nd screenshot, search around the area where you see the word "Icon" on that map. I always find lots of Moblins and Gancanaghs in that area.

Make sure Battlemania is ON and make sure the weather is SUNNY. Personally, I find that rainy weather tends to favor Gancanaghs more. Another hotspot for moblins is the plateau between Grave Ridge and Clearwater Marshes on the far side of the Stonestump Wastelands during CLOUDY weather (NOT stormy weather). There's a chocobo just chillin over there.

Equip a Collector Catalog (ideally a Durable one) if you have it, and use a monster w/ Item Collector/Scavenger if you can. Remember, the monster w/ the skill has to be out when you end the battle for it to work.

And Tonberry's not that hard, even for a low-level party, as long as you have a decent SEN.

Yes, of course. There are very few monsters, if any, which can legally be one-shot even on max level/best weapons.
Scarlet Crusade Feb 21, 2015 @ 5:22am
If you're gonna cheat like that, though, why not just cheat properly and just max out your stock?

I really don't understand cheating sometimes, it seems.

Yeah, there's definitely some variance to it. Down by the Golden Cactuar statue you can find them sometimes too. With the PC version of XIII-2, 98% of my farming at the Steppe has been done in rain, because of the spawns in Clearwater Marshes, you may be right, though.

Collector Catalog doesn't stack with Item Collector/Scavenger. If you have one, you don't need the other. The only part of Collector Catalog that does stack is Gilfinder.

Still takes a long time to kill when compared to other things. And he's just really annoying because you go through all the trouble, and then his crystal doesn't drop. Repeat 20 times and you might get lucky. And you'll come back in a little while because despite being so tedious to get, he's still the prime source for Magic+35% and Strength+35% for infusions.
tm0Lif3 Feb 21, 2015 @ 6:47am
Luck still bad on my side. Tried farming near the "Icon" spot with Sunny weather and i most get hedgefrongs, microchu and gancanagh, Problem with microchu they ran pretty fast. So you can't runaway from them. It's a much forced battle. Perhaps the problem is because it's not post game? I need to complete the game and come back? Dang this mindless farming lol i might as well grind Diablo 3.
Scarlet Crusade Feb 21, 2015 @ 8:28am
The opposite for me, I was trying to get a Gancanagh for Infusion, kept running into Moblins all day. This game can be laughably cruel sometimes.
