Are the Cei'th Stone quest necessary?
So, I'm at chapter 11 struggling through Class D Cie'th Stone quests. Are theses quests really needed now at my level? I haven't upgraded anything as of yet but my crystarium skills. Should I skip these quests and move on with the story or should I complete as many quests as possible, get leveled up enough to complete the last bosses?

I see players on YouTube and Twitch streams skipping these quests only to return to them layer after they have beaten the game.

They're side missions so you don't need to do them. If you want Crystogen points, I'd recommend farming the two giant monsters by a save point at the end of the huge field. You get around 6000 CP per fight. It's quite easy and quick since you get a preemptive strike and the monsters have only half of their health.

If you can figure out workable strategies, doing missions up through 14 is very advantageous at this point in the game. In addition to setting yourself up for quick transit around Gran Pulse, you'll get a lot of good accessories and some upgrading components from the mission rewards and unlock access to over 200k gil plus several more good upgrading components. And yes, these missions are very doable at this point.

That said, you certainly don't have to do them at any point in order to complete the game.

Gran Pulse is where all the fun and freedom comes into play.

Doing the Stone mission as mentioned will give you alot of items and CP, in addition to unlocking Chocobos to ride around Gran Pulse and unlocking more Shops, one of which is very important for upgrading equipment.

As for people skipping them until after they beat the game, some of them only unlock after you beat the game so thats one reason.. Another possible reason is that they want to beat the game without the extra leveling that the missions provide.

Either way, Gran Pulse is the fun part of the game.

Actually, all missions are unlockable after you defeat the last boss in chapter 11. No need to wait until you've beaten the whole game.

Gran Pulse is definitely the place to be :-)

I did up through mission 51 (genji glove!) before I went on to chapter 12 but I had some serious difficulty with the last few of those. Had low-level tier 2 weapons and that was it. If you do get up that high, definitely take out Neochu at mission 55 (google him for the cheap win strategy) to get the growth egg before going to chapter 12.

EDIT: I'd say at least do up through mission 30 or so, all those should be very doable.

They are PARTIALY must to the storyline, majority Cie'th Stone in Taejin tower is needed in order to continues the story or you never end the story if u want to skip them!!

Thanks guys! I'll continue with the Cie'th missions and roam around Grand Pulse a bit before continuing with the story.

The underground tunnels is a relatively easy place to grind some CP as well. With variating difficulty and a long tunnel. The mobs inside; I found, to be easier than the ones out.

To be honest, if you have problems with the D class missions even with a starting chapter 11 party, then you really need to practise combat in the game. D missions usually feature a slightly stronger variant of some mob monsters. They don't really get even remotely difficult until the mid 30s. Plus there are six missions that are really, really, really hard until you learn the game mechanics.
Also, there are a few missions that are mandatory to progress through the story, but that's it. Everything else is purely side content for additional rewards (usually cheaper reagents, some rare accessories and a ton of components that you mostly will end up selling… the real rewards start at the last quarter of them).
