Just saved me from buying a PS3
Actually I'm a huge fan of the FF series , started by FFVII on PC , then VIII also on PC....& cause those were the only PC releases I had to use emulators to play IX , X & XII

When FFXIII came out I thought of waiting for some time till a fully functional PS3 emulator comes out , but as this is not happening in the near future I finally thought of getting a PS3 eventhough PS4 was out.

I even waited for some time to see if the FFXIII series is getting on PSN so that i could get PS4.

But now since finally FFXIII is out on PC , I won't have to buy a PS3 anymore. I'll buy a PS4 if any !

Hope they continue releasing the FF series on PC & on time of the PS release. I imagine that having the highly anticipated FFXV on PC would be a wonder !

Yes , FF games are a must try for me , even if they are harshly criticized. I , for one , didn't like FFXII that much , although it was recommended by many. But then again I had to try it for myself.
Don't let be fooled, FF13 is a very good game - but its very linear sadly.
Hardly any cities to explore whatsoever, but great gameplay, great graphic and great story.

Yes , I think it was graphics oriented.

people keep saying FFXIII is a bad JRPG but the other JRPGs on the PS3 are way worse. It's like a dark age of JRPG.

FFXIII is a very good jrpg, but not a very good FF... thats my opinion atleast...

Is that because it deviated from the ways of the series ?

No world exploration, story isnt really that shocking tbh, there is a small plot twist to the end, but for the most of the time everyting is unrevealing as you assume and thought it would be.
Also, you cant power level/grind until later part of the game since you're "stuck" at certain levels.

FF (series 13) is to JPRGs what Michael Bay is to action films. They are technically well-made but wrapped around a threadbare, poorly written story. On the other hand you have JRPGs like Star Ocean IV and (and PS3 exclusives) Tales of Xillla which, on top of great combat systems, have extremely well-crafted narratives with character relationships that evolve over hours and hours of gameplay as the story unfolds. Tales of Xillia 2, which even though it recycled most (if not all) of the first game's assets, still featured a great and lengthy story. Lost Odyssey for the 360 was another gem of a JRPG, which had production values rivalling FF but far surpassed it in terms of storytelling.

To be seriously interested in the best JPRGs, you need to have a console. I always find console-snobbery amusing. The only statement it makes is one of ignorance since there are so many great games that never make it to PC.

star ocean IV was amazing.

Yeah, Star Ocean IV was a blast to play. I just remembered that I played it on my PS3 and 360 so I had to edit my post a bit. I played it first on the 360, then got the PS3 edition which eliminated the need for disc-swaps.

I also liked that every character had an extra ending, if you did all side-quest or talked with them a lot.

There are so many more better RPGs on the PS3 than what XIII is....

oh I am not saying it shouldn't be recommended (though I still have yet to play it fully through) I am just saying that just be FF XII is on steam, it shouldn't mean that someone is going to shoot down getting a PS3 over one game when there are tons of games, especially RPGs and if you like RPGs, then it is a great system to have.
