so, what the best char + role?

lightning = Ravager
Hope = Ravager
Snow = Sentinel
Fang = Commando
Sazh = Synergist
Vanille = Medic + Saboteur

like that?

All these things change depending on what enemy you are facing.

Develop all of their default roles.

You'll also get a chance to train them some new roles later in the game, but it's imho useless.

Well it is if like you, you didn't do the extra optional stuff like fell a heavy weight, or finish all the Cieth stones. Otherwise you'd know things like "Poison" on lights SAB role is a godsend in a certain fight.
and SEN abilities like "Reprive" keep you alive in a tough fights
her ability to use "haste" as a SYN.
Useless wouldn't be my choice of words.

If you want to play efficiently, then you want to switch paradigms constantly to optimism what you want to do. Otherwise, if you are playing just for story, get a COM/SEN/MED group and you can slowly beat every story monster in the game.

The best role depends on setups, accessories you use, enemies… for me, generally (post-game setups):

Lightning: SEN, RAV
Fang: SAB, COM
Vanille: SAB, MED
Snow: MED, SEN
Sazh: SYN, RAV
Hope: er… RAV, COM I guess, if I'd ever use him after chapter 10.

There's a numeric analysis somewhere on the internet. Basically though:

Lightning: best Ravager in the game. 2nd best Commando. 3rd Best Sentinel. Decent medic.

Fang: Best Commando. 2nd best Sentinel. Very good Ravager and just very good all-around character for every role. Highest strength potential in the game.

Vanille: Best Medic in the game. 2nd highest magic potential in the game.

Snow: Best Sentinel. 3rd best Commando, nearly as good as Lightning.

Sazh: Best Synergist in the game. Very good Ravager. Terrible at being a Commando or any other role besides the two mentioned.

Hope: 2nd best Ravager. 2nd best medic. Highest magic potential in the game (although he reaches it later than Vanille does)

The three main paradigms I find myself using late-game:

Relentless Assault:
Light: Rav
Fang: Com
Vanille: Rav

Solidarity:
Light: Com
Fang: Sen
Vanille: Med

Delta Attack:
Light: Com
Fang: Sen
Vanille: Rav

Switching between these intelligently and you can beat just about anything. Occasionally switch to Med, Sen, Med if I'm taking a real beating and need to heal fast.

That party and paradigm setup really wants Assassination (RAV/SAB/SAB), Matador (RAV/SEN/SAB), and either Mystic Tower (RAV/SEN/RAV), Combat Clinic (MED/SEN/MED), Variety (RAV/SAB/MED), or Perseverance (MED/SAB/MED) to round out the three open paradigm slots. Assassination should probably be the default starting paradigm.

ok, thanks guys
so, what the best weapon choice for every character?
tiornys Mar 13, 2015 @ 3:14pm
Assuming upgrades:
Lightning: Edged Carbine and Gladius
Hope: Hawkeye
Sazh: Antares Deluxes or Rigels
Snow: Feymark and Power Circle
Vanille: Belladonna Wand
Fang: Taming Pole

There are several other weapons that are very good and very useful.

Expect everyone to add in their 2 cents here. In the most neutral terms i can i would say use a weapon that compliments your playstyle with the main priority role for how you use each character.

e.g if you mostly use Fang as a SAB use a weapon that increases debuffing. if she is mostly your main COM give her something that boosts raw strength. if she is mostly a SEN give her a weapon that improves that skill.
There is no best weapon. just bad set-up

No, there are ways to evaluate the objectively best weapons. The weapons I listed are the ones that will most often give the fastest and easiest battles against a majority of storyline and postgame enemies assuming a high level of play.

With that said, you're correct to say that weapon evaluations start to shift when you take personal playstyle quirks into account. For example, the recommendations for Snow and Lightning are based partly on the analysis that Snow and Lightning are the two best support (AI-controlled) characters in the game. Players who choose not to use them this way for whatever reason may see more benefit from developing other weapons.

so here my team line up
lightning : ravager (main) + medic (2nd)
fang : commando (main) + sentinel (2nd)
sazch : synergist (main) + ravager (2nd)
hope : ravager (main) + medic (2nd)
snow : sentinel (main) + commando (2nd)
vanille : medic (main) + saboteur (2nd)

are u guys combine synthesis passive ability here? or just aim raw status? which better for late game?

Here's the weapon I would focus on:

lightning : ravager (main) + medic (2nd) -- Edged Carbine. Axis Blade is also worth consideration.
fang : commando (main) + sentinel (2nd) -- Taming Pole.
sazch : synergist (main) + ravager (2nd) -- Antares Deluxes. Spica Defenders is also worth consideration.
hope : ravager (main) + medic (2nd) -- Hawkeye
snow : sentinel (main) + commando (2nd) -- Paladin. Umbra and Wild Bear are also worth consideration.
vanille : medic (main) + saboteur (2nd)[/quote] -- Belladonna Wand.

In most cases, just aim for raw functionality. In most fights, most of the synthesized abilities aren't strong enough to justify using sub-par accessories. That said, giving your Synergist a kick-start with an Aurora Scarf is an excellent plan, and Aurora Scarf + Antares Deluxes gives you one of the best synthesis abilities in ATB Rate +XX%. Aurora Scarf + Sprint Shoes is another powerful combo that synthesizes ATB Rate +XX%.

The Wall abilities can be strong in conjunction with damage reduction against certain multi-hit attacks, and the Power Surge and Elemental Damage +XX% abilities are worth keeping in mind if you're having trouble scoring 5-stars on certain missions (only applicable if you're going for l'Cie Paragon).
