Lightning's gunblade...
So when I fought an airship (boss battle) with Light, Hope and Fang I kinda asked myself wth.
Ok, "hits the blunt"
If Light has a Gunblade why can't she just shoot ranged enemies in Commando mode?
Even tho her last attack as Commando is backflip shot...
Here some food for thoughts ;)

Probably the same reason real-life revolver swords were used mainly as swords and rarely as firearms: limited ammo capacity.

Did you know that if you select Attack in that battle, Light will in fact gun down Havoc Skytank?

You have to manually select Attack; Auto-battle will default to Ruin.

Probably because it would have been broken as **** if you could do that all the time.

It is literally just her normal basic attack with a different aesthetic animation, which you can see if you study that video. Also it can hit those like... 2 enemies in the game that have the special trait "can't be hit in melee combat" or whatever it states in the Notes.

The animation takes a fraction of the time of any normal attacking animation. That's a massive speed advantage that translates to much higher DPS.

Pretty sure it takes about the same time. Either way, it doesn't really matter as they could have just made it a secondary attack form like Blitz (which opens many balancing handles).

I...what...do you even have eyes? Seriously, take a look at how quickly Lightning uses 4 ATB segments in the video above, and then contrast with how long it takes her to use them here:

She literally expends 4 ATB segments in less time than it otherwise takes her to expend 1 ATB segment.

Yes, there are several things they could have done to balance the ability, but I'm sure they didn't have enough dev time to properly work it out.

And about the speed you are right it would be kinda op spamming the gun in meele combat.
