why so big a file?

as the title says "why so big a file?" .. i purchase this game thinking that its only going to be about 10gb in size only to discover when i start the download that it is in fact a total size of 49.4gb .. what is up whith that? i decide to dl the game anyways on to get to about 28gb dl'd when i get a message saying "disc read error" ... now, after 3 days of not being able to play the franchise that i so dearly love am thinking that i might try to seek help from somewhere on how to get this game installed .. i have had no problems with downloading and installing FFXIII-2 and wanted to get the first one so that i would have the complete set ...

so if anyone reading this can help me out in any way it would be much appreciated

uncompressed cgi's in two languages
delete these one that u won't use ( for example, japanese voices) and save 30 GB.
About download error, check of your disc has enough free space and is in good condition ( do defragnentation and stuff)

i only discovered the game the other day .. so i am sorry if i am a bit late with this post .. after all .. "I AM FROM NEW ZEALAND" and we dont get these games here until like a year aftr their official release in the shops .. so again i am sorry

As for the disk read error, it can be that your HDD is full, or you may need to switch Steam download locations. Since both Oz and Kiwiland are pretty much in the middle of nowhere, you may need to suffer the transfer rates of the Singapore or Taiwan servers. They are among the most stable and highest capacity in the SEA region, but to that distance… yeah…

i have a 1TB that is only a quarter full so heaps of space there .. and will look into the Singapore/Taiwan downloading .. thanks for that
