Even oils and bombs refill atomatically
Don't they..Really hate that mechanic. makes the herb collecting mostly pointless except for pocket change.

They don't on highest difficulty, you have to actually collect herbs to refill potions.

That's not true at all.

I prefer it this way to be honest. You can only have a limited number of these potions and bombs, and there's so much in the world to do I would really rather being doing side quests than prancing through a field trying to find allspice.

Why could they not have selectable options then if its possible in the game. Very stupid.. I do not want to play highest difficulty.

They do it so it doesn't become tedious.

Perhaps some gamer will make a mod that means you'll have to collect 7 different items to make 2 bombs again and again. I wouldn't want to do it myself.

Very very unrealistic...Oh I made the potion once and now all i have to do is put a little alcohol in the bottle and it will make it again. Really kills immersion. People lived it with just fine in the first 2 games.

Of course it's unrealistic. I'll sacrifice immersion for the sake of my long-term sanity and game enjoyment.

If it makes you feel better, meditate for 6 hours and pretend Geralt got really drunk off the alcohol and wandered through fields and caves collecting the herbs to remake everything.

Because drowners, signs, chorts, undead kings and their undead army... all of those are so mindblowingly realistic I can't tell if I'm playing a game or it's real life.

Going to assume you're trying to troll the OP. They refill on ALL difficulties.

As others have said, both in this thread and others, I like this better than having to hunt down rare ingredients. Having to hunt rare ingredients led to people not using potions because they were never sure if they would need it later. The system in TW3, while not perfect, is better than it was.

Honestly, I find crafting potions and bombs a chore even with the current system, and didnt brew many by the time I finished. Will probably worry a bit more about that on Death March, and frankly that's the one thing I dont look forward to....
Imo it was a great choice, and for all I care they could even have removed crafting alltogether and instead just give you certain witcher's potions...

That being said, an option to require all ingredients for refill instead of just alcohol would be very easy to implement, and if it makes someone happy I see no harm. Just dont attach an achievement to playing that way :fhappy:

Just because a game has a fantasy-setting, doesn't mean they can do whatever they want in terms of realism.
JudasPhysicist May 28, 2015 @ 2:02pm
Well herbalists sell pretty much all the ingredients you need for the potions. I just buy the recepies and then look what's missing and craft all the potions. Never went around to collect flowers much. I just go and buy some alcohol from taverns from time to time though.
beevie May 28, 2015 @ 2:07pm
They said it was to stop people from hoarding potions they would never use or forgetting to make them. I would have like 20 swallow in the end that I would never use.

While true, you can't point at refilling potions and say that's unrealistic while ignoring drowners, fireballs, and Geralt not being able to figure out how to get out of puddle or climb a wooden rigging to loot a chest or walk between two trees that Honey Boo Boo could walk between without a scratch.

Actually being a developer of a video game means that you can do whatever you want in terms of realism. And secondly, complaining about aspects of this game that aren't realistic is pretty laughable, half of the game isn't realistic. If you want a realistic game, go play a war sim.

Whats so unrealistic about living breathing creatures..At least they are possible. This is not taking place in our world. Whos to say ghosts do not exist either since some people do believe in them. But potions from nothing is ridiculous.

Yeah that part of the game is kinda boring, but with everything else going on in the game, I can kinda understand why they simplified it. But the fact that you only have 2 slots, and 500 different potions .. Grr.
