of diary and darkness Quest bug (Spoilers)

Has anyone encountered this, I found the abandoned mansion by accident (went for a wonder).
This triggered the quest, so I used Witchers vision and found the portal BEFORE going to the merchant to buy the quest items.
So when I did visit the merchant one of the quest items wasn't for sale, namely the Lizard statue , the jade statue was, and so far I've bough 3 of those, but no Lizard.
Anyone come across this?

I did, lol got a silly cheese related sword as a reward.

yep finished it. you get a req lvl 15 sword in there IIRC. was a while ago.

I'm guessing you guys went to the vendor first, not the mansion..

yep, buy the stattuette from the vendor to open the portal

Nope went to the mansion and did the witcher sense thing on the ground to reveal the portal thingy then was told to go to the shop afterwards.

This is what I did, but I can only find 1 statue to buy (jade), once I have bought everything in the store keepers inventory it doesn't register, so when I travel back to the mansion it tells me I don't have the key for the portal.

I wasnt really sure what to buy myself but i bought 3 things which had "This item is need for a quest" on the description.

I think theres more statues a lizard and cow statue. But its been so long since i did the quest my memory could be hazy.

If you cant see 3 items which have those description on them you might be experiencing a bug.

I'd say so, I bought everything the vendor had, it and still didn't work.

Did you try to go away after you bought the first statue, and come back an little later? I did that quest an few times, and I seem to remember that in one occasion I had to do that.

Otherwise - try to save before buying and reload and do the buy. Other than that I have no clue...

Unless you try visiting the shop later on and finding the lizard figurine (it's happened to me more than once), it's unlikely this will ever be fixed because it's yet another one of those instances when the developers intended the player to go to the shop prior to going to the mansion. Once the linear path is broken, the quest becomes broken and CDPR considers it to not be their problem any more without any responsibility to fixing it.

Best you can do is try to fix it yourself or load up an earlier save or forget about it until your next runthrough where hopefully you'll remember the correct order in which to do it and not pi$$ off the developers (or yourself).

We should all be keeping a list handy by now of things to do before this or that so that the game won't break. God knows no one else is going to do it for us, certainly not CDPR. They're way too busy counting their new-found money and hoping it'll carry over to Cyberpunk 2077.

If wishes were horses....

Sorry - I was able to complete the quest after I found the port and going to the merchant as an result. So - it's not always impossible, or tied to only one certain liniair A-B pattern.
